Barry Lynn Wright N. CHARLESTON - Barry Lynn Wright, Jr., 40, of North Charleston, SC died Sunday, November 6, 2011, from injuries sustained in an accident at the Dorchester Dragway. Born March 3, 1971 in Charleston, SC he was the son of the late Barry Lynn Wright Sr. and Geneva Wright. He enjoyed drag racing and spending time with his family. Barry is survived by his mother, Geneva Wright; son, Fredrick "Chase" Wright of St. Stephen, SC; cousin, Donnie Brown; and aunt, Julie Powell both of North Charleston, SC. The funeral service will be held in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel Friday, November 11, 2011 between 6:00 and 8:00 pm. A memorial message may be written to the family by visiting our website at www.jhenrystuhr.com. Visit our guestbook at www.postandcourier.com/ deaths

We raised over $2500 dollars. Check has been sent to Barry's son Fredrick "Chase" Wright.

I will be listing all the people who donated in this top post. ShawnBoyMoody will have each individual amount with the totals to make sure every dollar is accounted for. I'm pretty sure everyone trusts me, but just in case there will be some accountability with him helping.

Just an idea, maybe somebody should try and organize a poker run/fund raiser for his family, put it out there to all of the lowcountry guys, i would come down just for that and im sure that there would be a good turnout.

John im in to way knocking the amount, please dont think that. Give what you can but I dont want anyone to break their own bank.

I just thought it was funny that the same exact number as your other thread got donated and it said "anonymous" like no one would figure it out. :Group Hug:

Can the first post maybe have alittle back story for all of the facebook/other places that are linked to this topic. Alot of people are confused and dont know what fully went down like the people on here and it might save tons of questions from being asked over and over. Doesnt need to be specific, just who they are donating too maybe.

Hello I am new here and I was Barry’s close friend for the last 5 years and I am floored at the support everyone has given us and the family for those of you who knew Barry you know he would be bitching about us making a fuss over him he hated being the center of attention but I believe he would also be shocked at how many people cared about him he always had that look in his face that looked kind of mean and mad but that was him for those of us that had the honor to know Barry we knew the kind of man he was a great son father and friend that would do anything for family and friends

Marty,

Glad you found the site, and welcome.

Leonard from Dorchester dragway goes by the name of LDELEE on here.

Ronald (same screen name here) is our contact for Bowman dragway.

I haven't ever set up a car show, but I think there are some guys here that have. I'll see what I can come up with.

Marty, try and get in touch with Sean Porter -- he owns DIY Motorsports. He mentioned something about trying to get a benefit started at an event that Southern Dragbikes is having at Dorchester on November 19th. Hope this helps.

If everyone's ok with the benefit race, then maybe we could tie it in with the last top-dog race of the year. It might bring a better showing of people.

I would think a benefit would go over fine at the track as long as the family and friends feel its fitting. And its properly ran. From what Marty says it sounds like Barry would have appreciated it.

Marty, very sorry for your loss man. I didn't know Barry although he looks very familiar (probably from the track). He sounds like he was a great guy.

Hi...My name is Kim...Marty is my son in law, Also Barry's best friend. I on the other hand was his girlfriend. I had just gotten out of the truck at the staging lane, I begged him not to go. I am very pleased with the outpouring of support from friends and fellow racers have been to everyone. I am amazed at how many say he was a good and awesome man. THAT HE WAS. He was kind hearted and would do anything for anyone. I greatly appreciate everyone respect on here for the donations which will help his son and mother as well. I can tell you she has expressed her thanks to me for everyone doing this. I just again want to say I greatly appreciate your love and support at this time....

I rememember Barry from back when I used to run around in my Blazer as a teen. Very good guy and helped me out a few times at the track. A bunch of us used to leave the track and go to Perkins afterwords and just BS around and always had a good time. It really hits home when something like this happends, expecially to someone you know and someone as nice and laid back as Barry. My prayers go out to Barry's and also the other parties families in this tragic time. I am glad to see that even in this time and place where people have there differences and grudges, that we can all come together and make a difference and help people who need us and do it selfishless. Thanks to all.

Mike I sent you a pm with an idea and hopefully it will help.

TO HELP PAY FOR THE FUNERAL

we had a funeral in the family last week.
for those guys who may not know, it was ~$7k to take care of it.
even flowers were close to $100 a pop. everything is expensive now.

any fund raisers should be supported, if we can.

I will be closing this account out on Monday.

For the people who need to pay by cash: My schedule is hectic, and it may be easier for you to just deposit the money right into my account at BB&T. I have 2 accounts there, so PM me and I will give you the correct account number.

After you have deposited the money, PM me back so I can mark the right person down as paid.
