My windshield looks like it was sandblasted. With the sun in my eyes in the morning it sucks. Any body ever used polish to get it back to new? Otherwise the insurance comp will be getting a call.

Its easier to pick up a phone than it is to buff out a windshield. No your not going to be able to buff out pits in glass.

No you cannot buff it out.
I tried it a couple of times while working auto glass for a living. Was unsuccessful to say the least.
Try and stay away from the big name places. Your insurance company has to let you decide which shop to use. If you call insurance company they will give you safelite 90% of the time. You don't want that.
Get in touch with Southern Glass & Plastics in west ashley and have your insurance card handy. Speak with Todd or Linda and tell them Buddy sent you and tell them you want an OEM glass. They will handle the rest.
And of course, it's always better to take it to them than it is to do mobile.

Just out of curiosity why stay away from the big places? Quality of the glass or workmanship? What's the benefit of taking it in vs. mobile? Never had problems with the mobile people.

Call Debbie at Sterling and tell her Matt from Selepack Auto Detailing referred you. She will hook you up.

Just my .02 but I've used Safelite mobile before to replace a whole windshield and I was very happy with the work.

Carl, i would take it to Papabears place.
i had safelite do my truck, and the kid dropped the windshield on the fender (was alone, doing a mobile install, prolly would have had a helper in a shop)
and the glass quality is crap, i will show you tonite how to tell, by looking thru it sideways (from outside, by the passenger mirror to the other side) (this is a recurring thread, and i think Papabear posted this trick last year)
dang, we need a stickie for windshields & tint!

I have also used the same place as Papabear, Southern Glass and Plastics. They have done 3 windshields for me and they were perfect. I took it to them each time.

This.
Safelite owns >50% of lynx services which is the company that gables claims for insurance companies. There's a 10 year still ongoing lawsuit from other companies about monopolizing the industry.
Their Installers get paid by the job not by the hour. Self explanatory. It's not about your car and the quality of the work to them, it's about getting it done. Throw in the cheap glass that they produce and it's not good.
Granted you might have an awesome experience with them, but you'd be lucky. Most people dont "care" about their cars the way we do.
Trust me on this one. Todd is one of the best installers I've ever seen, even working by himself. He cares as much about your car as he does his own. To me that's priceless.
For the other question, in the shop is a more "controlled" environment, and weather is not a factor. This makes the installer more comfortable and not rushed.
I did this for a living for 6 years, trust me on this stuff. I don't know efi tuning or nitrous but I know glass.
