So my buddies 08 or 09 jeep burnt to the ground on the side of the interstate, no real clue to what had started the fire. He was driving and somebody next to him pointed and he pulled over. When he pulled over it popped, breaking the latches and hood flung up! When he got out the car was already on fire. Total loss. The jeep had just gotten out of the dealership for some work, in which it was there for 3+ weeks!! After reading about this issue on the link below, I would think Chrylser would attempt to make this right? Really an absolute rip off!

Is that a speaker box in the back? hope it wasn't caused by faulty amp wiring..

Yeah, but it was just in for the ride. No amp, wires, or anything of that nature, everything stock, 50 k miles.

I saw it burning on the side of the interstate when we were on a test drive on the frontage road. Funny thing is we were about to test drive one of those and that made up our mind quick

my cousin had his do the same, except his started out as a transmission problem (pushing fluid out of the vent tube). took it in for repair which they had no answer to the problem but said it was fixed under warranty. next day on the interstate transmission starts slipping out of gear (probably when it pushed the fluid out), fluid ignited on the exhaust and it burnt to the ground.
Chrysler knows they are hanging on by a thread and stuff like this might put them under, but nothing is going to happen until someone unfortunately gets trapped inside one thats burning.

People have been burned slightly, but your right nothing real serious. If enough people make a big stink about it maybe it will be more well known. Nobody really has much of an idea about it, my buddy had no idea that they had a recall. They never fixed it when it was at the dealership. Its not like a smalll little fire startseither by the time he got pulled over and got out the car it was up in flames. He even got a fire estinguisher from a bystander. It didn't take but less than ten minutes for it to do what it did in the picture.

Yes thank god for insurance.
Even if the speakers were instlled, no biggy. Hurricane electronics hooked up some stuff for me in 01. Left the truck in the driveway and it burned overnight. They paid to have the entire thing reupholstered.
Sad for the loss buy new car shopping is fun!!
