I wouldn't have pursued the robbers after they fled like the good guy did, but hey, this is Texas we are talking about!

I would say that this concealed carrier could use some more range time since the perps weren't hit. Anyway, this proves one good gun can trump two bad guns.

HOUSTON -

Two armed men tried to rob a Denny's restaurant, but ended up fleeing after a shootout with a customer.

The shootout happened at a Denny's restaurant in the 11000 block of the East Freeway around 5:50 a.m. Saturday.

Officials said two armed suspects wearing bandannas entered and attempted to rob the restaurant.

The sole customer in the restaurant, a licensed concealed handgun carrier, saw the suspects enter, pulled out his own gun, took cover and fired at the robbers, detectives said.

Investigators said the suspects returned fire and fled the restaurant. The customer followed the suspects, firing as he went. The suspects jumped into a white minivan and fled the scene.

Officials said a white minivan with what appeared to be bullet holes was found later in the 1400 block of Griffen. It had been reported stolen, police said.

So far, police have no suspects in the case.

Unfortunately, Getrag makes these bastard rear ends for the vettes. Getrag is famous for overrating anything they make just to win a bid to supply the big 3.

The architecture of the ring and pinion are a little less beefy IMHO than a regular 10 bolt rear. A common mod to the inside of the differential is to switch to the Z06 limited slip pack arrangement, which gives you 4 frictions per side instead of the 3 you get in a regular vette.

Stronger stub shafts are available, along with a very beefed up differential case by Quaife ($1700, ouch!). Other than external braces to help hold the case together, there doesn't seem to be much more out there that I am aware of. :cry1:

Anyone know of any other C6 vette rear end solutions that aren't based on the current Getrag unit? At least the GTO guys have the option of going to an 8.8 or 9 inch Ford unit.

That C6 vette rear end would probably last much longer if you put an automatic in front of it. That would take a lot of shock loading off of it that the stick is currently sending it.

I think it is time for a for a built 4L65E since you are going to have it apart anyway. :poke:
