broken piece hiding in the diff.

think ill upgrade to the Z06 30 spline and have the diff swapped/machined for it. have to give gerald a call and see if he can throw the guts of a tr6060 inside.
Im still shocked that i didn't break a half shaft or l/r output shaft instead...
now just need to pull the trans... need to get cleaned up and take out the center console...

From what I have been able to find out on the net, the TR6060 and T56 magnum internal parts are pretty much identical to each other. Unfortunately, these internals don't have anything dimensionally in common with regular T56 internals nor are compatible with a standard duty T56 case.
What sucks about the Corvette is that the rearend pinion female splines slide right over the T56 27 spline output shaft. The 6060 and magnum have 31 splines. Viper T56s use a 30 spline. Vette output shafts are unique in that they have a seal surface diameter on them just aft of the rear shaft bearing to keep trans fluid and rearend fluid separate. Reportedly, the upgraded ZO6 Vette output shafts are 32 spline. Welcome to the Corvette world.
Given the complexity of switching to a stronger T56, I bet the choice of going automatic is getting a little easier....

i already have an automatic vette as well, dont like it. =P yes, it may be faster, but it isn't as fun. will be selling the automatic vette as soon as i get the tt back up.
trying to figure out if i need a new rear for the bigger output shaft (Z06) or can get mine machined. then add an eaton and hardend output shafts for the diff..

i found the zo6 housing: 09-11 Z06 diff $316 (http://store.gmpartshouse.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getJointLocator&siteid=214638&chapter=&Sectionids=23,0&groupid=10047&subgroupid=60749&componentid=0&make=6&model=Corvette%20Coupe&year=2010&graphicID=Z1P060&callout=1&catalogid=1&displayCatalogid=0)
so instead of modding my diff, i could buy this one and swap carriers over, getting the eaton anyway, maybe get a stronger 9" ring gear.
so much info out there, i've seen tr6060 with 27 spline, 30 and 31 spline, so im fucking lost.

Carl, what did you end up deciding to do?

well, im leaning towards an RPM Lvl 6 TR6060 with z06 gearset and a Stage 4 Z06 diff... cough: 7000 cough:
Im pretty fucked no matter what, in order to build up the trans i need a 30 spline main shaft, and that requires a z06 rear with the 30 spline pinion gear.
cheapest way is to just get the t56 rebuilt with a new shaft and stop racing...
