Got the top half of the car painted. I still dont have a hood, but its a factory Ford Tuxedo Black color so I can paint the cowl hood when I get em. Oh, and wingless. I personally love the color combo with the silver pin stripe and no wing. Movin in the right direction finally on the looks lol. And the front wheels are getting polished back out to their original shine, so it wont be AS bad as it is now lol.

Thank you sir! It was a spur of the moment thing to want to change it up, so I taped it off and started sanding. No going back after that.

IMO, the factory hood looks good with the black paint. I like factory/stock appearances on fast cars.

I do like cowl hoods. I also like the one that's on your car too. "Fast" is a relative term, and you always want to go faster.

Looks good man. I'd plasti-dip the right and left mirrors and the vents on the sides.

Why no emblem in the front bumper?

It had a billet grill in there. Im gonna probably put the factory grill back in or a mach grill delete. The front bumper is hardly hanging on. All the clips are broken on the right side due to me vs. an oppossum.

Thanks everyone. I plan to cut 1 1/2 coils off the back to get it to sit down perty, and hopefully work great still. More pics when done. The motor puts the front end in the dirt so it should look good when done. Getting the windows retinted also. 5% all around vs. the 15% thats on there now. 35% on the windshield.

I have some extra springs laying around if you need them. 1 set is from the solid axle i swapped in, and i have both front and rear from the irs unit which i dont know if they will work or not. The solid springs may be aftermarket i havent even looked at them.

how do you use plastic dip, and have you or anyone else used it. does it come out smooth? or do you sand it?

PapaBear
12-27-2011, 08:39 PM
I've used it a lot. Did my front brake ducts, grille, bowtie, an some other small pieces. Also did a front bumper on a Z71. Works awesome.

I originally painted the stuff on my truck, and within 100 miles it was chipped up. Plastidip hasn't chipped in 6000+ miles.

You just mask off, spray a few coats and it's done. Does not come out glossy and u can not clear coat it or sand it. It will however peel right off if you don't like it.

Search YouTube for it. Guys are doing their wheels with it and it works awesome. One guy even did his entire front bumper and rear fenders for a road trip and then peeled it all off instead of putting blue tape on truck.

This guy knows what he is talking about. I've tried every type of paint on my front emblem (plastic) and they have all chipped within 500 miles. I used plasti-dip, and it's just now started showing some chips at about 15K miles (but that's with bahn driving). The elasticity is key in resisting chips.
