buyin may not be so bad...but maintenance costs, Ug!!
co-worker has a Lexus, been in shop 4 times for noise.
they pulled the motor to do some recall, and they must have broke off a spark plug, because the service writer called "your car need new spark plugs"
"dont it have 100k mile platinums?"
"...uh, yeah..."
"so it don't need plugs, right"
"..uh, yeah... we thought this might uh, be a good chance, to uh, to do them now, while the motor is out..."
"not only NO, but NO NO NO NO"
they called her back a week later (still in shop) and said "we need to drive it a couple hundred miles to find the noise"
she said "so you want to ride around in my lexus, and drive it all over, to save wear and tear on your car, and get mine all dirty....not only NO, but NO"
this week they called "we should do the 60k mile maintenance, and she asked all what it was: brakes, hoses, oil change
she said " you put all new brakes on for the noise, you put NEW oil after the recall disassembly, and you looked at all the hoses...so not only NO, but No NONONO NO"
buy you a Geo Metro and when it gets warm, we will sawzall the roof off!
(nice car BTW!)

Thats a deal right there... even with 60k miles its got probably 6k+ in mods alone.
