Firstoff, let me start off by saying that I have never done jury duty before. Guess I have been lucky. I recently moved and changed my address, etc. I am renting out my old house to a guy at work. He just brought me a piece of mail from my old address, and it is saying that I need to appear for jury duty. Can I just toss it and say I never received it, since it was not sent to my correct address?

Don't know about here but in Ca while I was on a deployment I got called up. Naturally being gone I didn't know so I didn't show and subsequently I got a Warrant. Had to go to the court and show I was on orders and such to clear it. Wasn't hard to do but what if I had been pulled over and found out that way you know? It kinda sucks to take the day off for that but it is one of your civil duties as a productive member of society. And you should go in with a shirt saying NOT GUILTY with a picture of OJ Simpson on it. Doubt they will keep you long after seeing that.

That's great man! Yeah, I will call them and go then. I just didn't want to take the time out of my day, as time is money, ya know.....But, I don't need a warrant on my head either, as that would affect my security clearance.....

Try getting a subpoena. Hard to get out of that.

I've never been to jury duty in my life. If its not sent certified mail they can't prove you ever got the notice. They threaten you with warrants but its bullshit.

Who do you work for?

Some larger companies will still pay you for jury duty......worth checking into.

If you moved out of the area where you lived before then you just need to tell them. If you don't want to participate then just say you had a bad experience with some race and you would be bias. If you've never done it before you should try it.

SAIC. They have to pay you by law apparently, but it's only a percentage of your hourly rate or salary rate.....

Here is the question of the hour: do you live in the same county now or did you move to a different county? If you're in the same county you have to go, if you're not you'll be excused.

My wife and I were both called to jury duty about a month ago and we showed up and were excused because I lived in Charleston County and she was still "registered" as Berkeley County.

I am still in the same county and city even, so I guess that answer's that!

Are you in the 20 building yet?

Didn't know it was a percentage, but while we're at it, what percentage of your salary is it?

Not sure where the 20 building is, unless you are talking about the new building behind SRC? If so, no, I am not in that building, as they deal primarily with Veteran's Affairs type stuff, such as healthcare over there. I am on the Engineering side of things.....As far as the percentage goes, I am not sure on that, as I haven't served on jury duty yet.....
