Hopefully it was justified, but I think there is more to it. We'll see.

I would have done the same thing as the driver of the camry. Without further information, I believe the driver was heading to work at that hour.

I hope it ends up being a clean shoot, too. If so, compliments are due for the shooter for having some pretty sharp situational awareness. Some of the details are fuzzy, but it sounds like there was a car in front of him, which may have been part of a coordinated setup to pin him in.

Out of curiosity, it would be interesting to know the caliber the shooter used for the one shot-one kill, especially through glass like that.

A 1911 responds a whole lot faster than 911!

Had to be 45acp! I wonder how loud his ears were ringing afterwords with the windows up and all.

Had to be 45acp! I wonder how loud his ears were ringing afterwords with the windows up and all.

In my early days of shooting pistol, I tried a little experiment in the booth at ATP as I was the only one on the range at the time. I wondered how loud my 1911 would sound without hearing protection in that indoor environment. Might as well find out so I would know what to expect in a real life shooting, right?

Hollllllyyyyy crap!...That sumbitch had my left ear ringing for 5 days from just one shot! Now granted, I was in between the dividers when I did this. Outdoors, the .45 is loud, but not 5 day ear ringing loud. I would say about 1/2 to 1 day mild ear ringing for outdoor shooting with a .45.

One other indoor whoopsie was when I was doing some dry fire practice in the house home alone one day. Well, somewhere along the line a full magazine happened to find its way into the gun and a shot got squeezed off. Damnit! The shot went through the middle wall of the house and lodged itself into the rough framing for a window opening in the back bedroom. Luckily, the bullet didn't make it outside and all I had to do was patch a little sheetrock. Noise-wise, it wasn't near as bad as the ATP indoor experiment. I would say about a day of ear ringing/numbness and it was gone. I guess with the curtains, upholstery, and carpet that some of the sound got absorbed. Maybe the interior of a car absorbs some sound, too?

P.S. - I don't dry-fire practice in the house any more!
