i have seen in the past people talking about there fridge not getting cold and some seem to know more than me about these things. Its a samsung side by side. it has dual evaperators so i dont think there is a blend door from the freezer to the fridge side. The fridge evaperator is frozen at this moment so im thinking with what i seen searching that maybe its the fan motor on the fridge side. Any help?

The biggest problem with modern energy efficient refrigerator designs is they add a thousand dollars of crap that can fail to save $15 a year in electricity.

As stated in the PM, I suggest a full manual defrost. Unplugged. Doors open. At least 24 hours. When plugged back in, normally all will function again if it was an air infiltration issue.(failure to close a door or poor insullation). If a fan is innoperative, the failure will re-occur quickly/immediately. If it is a bad seal somewhere, it will take some time to fail again.(if so you need Samsung). If it was a door left ajar, it will just simply work.

This forum is good for service info.

i think it has something to do with the auto defrost setup. I talked with a guy today and he said to check that stuff since the fan on the evaporator is working

Most refrigerator section evaps are not self defrosting. They "sweat" rather than frost up(think air conditioner). But Samsung may be doing something different. Did the guy tell you how to trigger a forced defrost? If so, you can put an amp probe on the line in to see if the defrost heater turns on. That circuit(if it has one) will have a heater and some sort of terminator/limiter in series. If no current thru, then one of those componants is open. The heater you can measure after you defrost it. The terminator will be open at room temps.

this. my kenmore even has the auto defrost but it develops a mind of its own after a couple months. I'll come home and it'll be around 50* inside. I unplug it for 10 minutes, plug it back in, and it goes back to working like normal.

though, if yours is frosted up, I'd manually defrost it and then test both fans when you turn it back on.

defrost heater going bad? My Samsung side by side did last year I think it was a $45 part. I could unplug it and do a manual defrost and it would cool for a day then freeze over. Rinse, repeat day after day until I put the new heater in.
