To kick things off, I thought I would start with a Ford question since there are so many Ford lovers on the board. First Trivia question will pay $50 to the person that answers it correctly. The question is as follows;
In 1994, the ford Cobra was equipped with the 5.0 motor producing 240 horsepower. How much horsepower did the 2003 Cobra pack with the supercharged 4.6l motor?
First person to get the answer wins $50!!!

Your correct Chrisheltra!
The 2003 Cobra saw the edition of an Eaton roots-style supercharger which helprd the 4.6 achieve 390hp. Big leaps from the 240hp in 1994.
You can pick up your $50 the next time you come to the gate at track if you like or pm me. Thanks for playing!

I doubt chris had to google that one, that one was probably easy for most of the 4.6/5.4 guys.

Nope. It was a pretty easy question. I did think this trivia thing was gonna be dorchester track trivia. Glad I won $50 either way.

Yeah every mod motor guy with a 4.6 or 5.4 knew the answer to that question. If you ask us a mopar or chevy question most of us would be clueless :cheers

Not sure why Ford didnt port the blower and add a more aggressive pulley combo from the factory and shoot for 450hp.

Because it came with a warranty. It was already going to dominate the other cars in its league out there for those years, why push it when they have to cover the parts. They let you put the pulley on and then they say bye bye to the warranty.

Thought they were still really reliable at that hp level? I do understand about not overshooting their competition if they dont have to though. Im sure price and competing with the vette would enter the equation too.

What i dont understand is they put good rods in the cobras but when the 99-04 lightning came out...what the HELL were they thinking, i could break those rods with two pairs of plyers

Competitiveness with regards to price, or I assume they thought that that rod length would be fine. You know, its our trannys that break them or fracture them for the final blow... The 4r100 is a wicked tranny, with nothing more than a modulator valve it kicks like a mule. Spin the motor 5400 rpm's and and hit it with a transmission with a VB that drops the rpm in a split second 2000 or so rpms on a 6.658 rod length and you can see where the stress goes.............

They were reliable at 600, but the tune needed to be spot on......
