Never seen anything like this, thought I would share. This is for blacksnow's NA Honda build. Shooting for 325+ Whp on pump gas at 14.2:1 compression. Pretty crazy looking

I love bent valves as much as the next guy, but fuck.

No replacement for displacement. I wonder if the combustion chambers on the head has been v-eed out.

It's a HIGH dollar build with a sleeved ERL block and 4-piston racing head. I'm sure every angle has been covered on the build.

Big money build for 325hp? When should one just put head in a meat grinder
PapaBear

325 HP with 4 cylinders is a tad bit different on pump gas and NA....

holy hell a 4 piston racing head.

It's a company, lol. Was wondering when that would come....

how the hell is 14.2:1 and pump gas going to work?
PapaBear
04-12-2012, 05:04 PM
Don't know man, I know NOTHING about these things. No race gas an no E85 is all I know.
PapaBear

Correction.....they are now going with E85.

how the hell is 14.2:1 and pump gas going to work?
With more high dollar parts.
As much as that may be cool and all. I am sure they are throwing money at reinventing the wheel right now.

New mazda motors come with something like 14.7 comp ratio, something crazy like that

14:1 on 93 is very doable with the efficiency of the combustion chambers on alot of the honda motors.
those pistons look like basically every other high compression honda piston. i'm guessing 2.8ish liters and 8000+rpm probably tuned by anthony at AV-engineering on AEM and will fall short of his WHP goal on 93, but will be close on corn.
car will be a very respectable street car when done.

how the hell is 14.2:1 and pump gas going to work?
The same way that 10.5:1 and 35-38+ psi of boost is about to happen on my Evo. Not too long ago that was unchartered territory for street cars (Evo's). I would run higher a high compression ratio than that if I was to run E85 100% of the time, but I don't want to. Tuning is everything.

Not uncommon at all. Used a very similar design in the pulling truck engines I used to mess with back home. Gotta have dome to make compression when the heads have huge combustion chambers.

Is this local? Somebody mentioned Anthony. 325 NA whp would be sweet, but I'd much rather have a 600whp NA Vette any day of the week :D

Seems I remember pop up pistons started falling out of favor once it was discovered the domes got in the way of flame travel and actually increased the tendency to detonate. Its better to keep the piston flat and make the combustion chamber smaller if you want compression.

me too...
And I dont see 38 lbs of boost with any decent amount of compression running good on 93 octane. Yes, I understand tuning is everything, but there are limitations, regardless of how spot on the tune is.

i agree, i would imagine cylinder pressure with 38psi and pump gas = BOOM

Id also say that if that happens, I want to see it! I think thatd be pretty cool

The car is being built in Florida. Same block same head different compression made 290 on 93 octane. New cams and new compression ratio and E85.....I think he will surpass his goal.

The owner and the car are local. Build is happening in Kissimmee Florida for the second time. He was shooting for 300 with lower compression and hit 290, he wasn't satisfied so here he goes again.
It's the silver Honda that had the red wheels on it that we had a thread on a while ago. Guy's name is BlackSnow on the forum.
