So I finished tearing down the top half today, Turns out I was right damn water jacket opened up on number 7 just like I though will get some pics up soon nothing spectacular though. Should be picking up my 317s from mikes machine out of orangeburg on Monday curtis spec'd the heads to the cam that I already have and is installing some prc double springs.

Got a bunch of goodies for it too along the way.

Switching to LS7 lifters
Ported 317s from 241's' new comp ratio 9:1= more timing and boost
adding a 90mm throttle body
Adding strange double adjustable coil overs with hypercoils all the way around.
8 point mild steel cage
Dont worry the interior's going back in, and the AC will still blow cold, because its a street car:bigthumb:

She will be up and running by next weekend, and off to have the cage installed.

Not what you think. A cage will never go in my truck. I drive it way too much on the street to make it that dangerous in the event of an accident.

Back of the head to hoop cuz a car dealer rear ends you leaves you head ringing. Ask me how I know. LOL. But I prefer to have my little six point. It doesn't really hamper me in any way.

I bought the 8 point from brokedickracing had it shipped to my house was like 265.00 for mild steel. Not sure if Cliff could supply the pipe.

On another note after doing a lot of research into cages www.brokedickracing.com has the best prices on weld ins whether they are mild/dom/or moly hands down, fast shipping, and good customer service too. And the name is funny as hell comes with a vinyl too I just might rock it, should be worth about 100 hp on the back window. They also make some chassis stuff to, K members, sub frame connects, 4 link kits ect.

More of a PITA but if you use the harness vice the shoulder belt typically your head shouldn't hit the bar but your legs could hit the front struts in a side impact. I would imagine that wouldn't feel to good but at least you wouldn't get crushed by the door.

Like I said I got rear ended by a cadillac so that is what caused my head to slam back into the hoop. I agree most people won't get hit that hard. Even with the SFCs and six pt welded in it put the passenger door bar in a serious bind. I caught hell getting it out. Even though it has the swing outs I just slide over the bar. The main thing that helps to have a cage or roll bar in a street car it to make it fit tightly into a place that is out of the way.

Do you know something I don't know Matt?

Interior in my car is already gutted in preparation only thing in the car is the driver seat and dash/ door panels for now. The 8 point weld in is sitting in my garage. Really it is just boiling down to when I get the motor back together again and that depends on when the LS9 head gaskets get here. Wont take me more than a day to put the motor back together again. Will only take about 4 hrs to install the coil overs all the way around. Not sure how long Cliff will take but I have test fitted most of the cage and the hoop/ struts all fit in the car well not much needed there either but welding.

Picked up the heads from Mikes machine, to my surprise Curtis picked up a set of Lunati Gold Duals instead of PRC Doubles. There actually a better spring so I am happy. UPS guy also left me more presents. LS9 Head gaskets that were supposed to be here yesterday still haven't showed up yet.

Went ahead and cleaned up the block so it will be ready, and installed the LS7 lifters and cups today.

That's because this car has a built 6speed for now, gonna try the two step route once I figure out its sweet spot then all I got to do is shift.

However I am on the lookout for a LS TH-400 setup. Someone on here said they had a setup so I PM'd and they never responded Curtis out of Mikes Machine in Orangeburg recommends I talk to Kooks. The thought of losing overdrive makes me a little upset.

I am pretty sure I read somewhere that the summit brand are just re-branded comp 3 ways, Jegs had a killer deal on them they were like 34 dollars a piece. That also answers another question that being which setting to use. Thanks

Front will be all stock with swaybar end links pulled out, with the exception of the Strange double adjustables paired with 325# hypercoils, Talked with the guys at BMR and they recommended that spring rate.

Rear:
Strange S60, 35 spline axles, true trac, 3.40s
Strange chromemoly driveshaft
Hotchkis Adjustable LCA's,
UMI weld on LCA Relocation Brackets
Hotchkis Adj Panhard bar
SLP Adj torque arm set @ -3 (pinion angle)
UMI crossmember w/torque arm relocation bracket
Comp 3 Way adjustable shocks
Stock WS6 rear springs
Stock WS6 sway bar

Pic without the 3 ways installed and sway bar.

I have never come across any multi layer gasket before, not saying they dont exist, just all the gaskets I have put on in the past were one single thick layer.

I dont doubt that, most of my experience is with the old muscle car era motors, Gen 1 small/Big block Chevy's, Poncho motors, 5.0's, even done some work to some olds rocket motors.

Ya, the LS9"s are definitely 7 layer, The felpro's I just pulled off weren't nothing but a single layer though come to think of it I blew the head gasket about 2 years ago and those were single layer too.

Cars over at Cliff's shop getting the 8 point roll bar installed, and its having the maf sensor deleted out of the cold pipe since the cars 3 bar SD now. Ill get picks up when its finished before the interior goes back in trying to decide if I should throw some race seats in it instead of the factory heavy ass leather seats. Should offset some of the cages weight.

Pretty sure I found a built TH350 and a stall for it too.
