Turn system off. You would need to recover all the refrigerant into your unit. Remove txv. Install new txv. Cut dryer out. Solder new one in. Pressurize the system with nitrogen. Remove nitrogen from system if not leaks found. Put vacuum pump on system and vacuum down to about 250-500 microns (i prefer 2xx). Open valves. Turn system on. Let run for awhile. Check charge and add refrigerant if need be.
How do you know that you need a txv and filter dryer and oil added to the compressor?

I forgot to ask that Marty. Feel retarded lol. I guess that is what happens when you answer home a/c questions majority of the night. Most likely auto now that I think about it

The info is free. It is the tools to do that job that aren't and most likely won't be had by the norm.

belive me i know just how expensive the tools are i have purchsed many a/c tools for my previous line of employment

Auto...I read somewhere that the compressor needed to come off...buddy told me today that the canned of oil are similar to the freon

best to drain the system if you got access to a auto a/c machine it will drain the oil if not you can pull the compressor and drain it or buy the whole a/c kit from vato zone or lakeshore and replace it all

it would help if you could tell us what is going on with it. if your pressures are out of wack then that could mean something.

Low side is low...hi side is hi...added freon pressures go up and air doesn't get colder ....feels like the heat is on ...compressor works obviously

to me it sounds like the orfice tube may have a blockage. If that is the case the normal thing that will contaminate it is a compressor coming apart. With it blocked the pressure will be higher than normal bc of the extra restriction. if the fans are coming on i would probably pull that out and see what it looks like. I dont believe many gm dryers will cause and issue like that bc i think they are in the return side of the system.

High side too high along with low side too low is most likely a restricted orifice tube. Usually the only thing that clogs them up is internal compressor debris. All it takes is for just one cylinder of a 10 cylinder compressor to take a crap. The other 9 will still pump adequately to see the pressures you described.
If you do have a clogged orifice, make sure you flush your condenser or get a new one. The stuff on a clogged orifice is the compressor junk that managed to get through the condenser. Some of these newer uber efficient condensers don't flush all that well, so replacement is a safe bet to keep the rest of your parts investment alive.

say what? was there a problem with that statement?

From what I read lt1s don't have orifice tubes they have expansion valves...and I don't remember the pressure readings...been about a month since I checked

I had an issue like that in my old explorer the heat was on. the little valve that let engine coolant flow through the core was stuck open.

Even if you have and expansion valve instead of an orifice, it's still the least open spot in the system for flow and compressor debris will pile up in it.
I have seen where some expansion valves have a filter screen on their inlets to help keep any debris from clogging up the innards of the valve.

replaced the expansion valve last night....old one off and new one on in about 5 minutes....actually felt nice to work on my car and nothing go wrong....rented a vacuum pump from auto zone this morning along with the neccassary oil and freon...its vacuuming now...hope to be blowing cold in a few hours...

vacuumed the system...added oil...added freon...low side is 35-45..high is 215-225...blows hot as satans nut sack....

pressures seem good. i would check a blend door issue or possibly the control head in the dash

to check the blend door quickly just try the a/c when the car is cold after an overnight cool off, with cool coolant you should get cold a/c if all is working, if it gets warmer as the engine warms you know the blend door is the issue.

the cable has alot of tension on it and is pulling the gear that opens/closes the blend door off of the shaft...so it its forced shut by the air coming in...which pushes hot air through the ducts...ima play with the cable/gear and if i cant get it to work properly ill just force the door to stay open until winter comes around
