Spark plugs?

My Lexus just turned over 283k miles. Had the spark plugs changed here is what was pulled out:

Unsure when they were last changed (nothing mentioned in the 30 pages of service documents). Car runs better, but nothing "felt" wrong with it before. Just doing routine stuff in the mean time. Idle has been perfect since day one (drove it from dealer in Palatine, IL) and past few months. I would say this is a testament to Toyota quality.

Gapped worse than my cars vs anything on this forum.


Really impressed though, no symptoms. Valve cover gasket was leaking, decided spark plugs should get changed.

This 2jzge does not want to die. Tranny feels odd. Getting a cooler and a flush in the coming weeks.

Everyone Ive ever known who had a iffy transmission and had it serviced it went out completely a week later? I say if its never been serviced in 300,000 miles dont do it now lol. Just my .02 cents Im sure somebody more knowledgeable will blow my theory out of the water lol.

Yeah, I hear it has to do with containment's that stick in some places and a flush will bring them into places they should not be? Or something to that effect.

In the service records the tranny has been flushed 5-6 times in the whole 30 pages of crap done to it.

I may just add the cooler and call it a day. Just don't want a Carolina summer to make the tranny take a dump. Its been in Chi-town all its life.
Also, when I say iffy.....it maybe normal for this automatic, I know my LS430 did the same thing (same 5sp auto). Slow stop taking a left or right hand turn with giving it 20ish % throttle it stays in the same gear so I would have to put more % throttle to get it to down shift so, if I am trying to get across oncoming traffic taking a left turn and I need to zip across, it just walks along?? idk how else to describe that. But normal merging onto the interstate it shifts at X rpm and does its thing, no flaring of the rpm before or after the shift. Maybe this is just normal for this tranny. None of my other cars did this but the LS430......

If a clutch is going out the the friction is in the fluid. If you change the fluid you no longer have the friction so it slips.

I'd leave it alone. What is it sc300/gs300? You can get a low mileage trans for real cheap if it goes but those things are beasts. More problems from the electronics part than mechanical part from what I've seen.

And I know quite a few na-t 2jz guys that didn't put their kits on until 250k+ miles and still make 400+who for years.

The is300 bottom end and 5speed auto is considerably weaker than the older stuff.

What year is it?

2003 GS300 The interior looks to have 20k miles on it. But the serial's match. Quite a rare freak of nature. The outside is balls and shows 300k miles. Inside you cannot even tell......well aside from the floor mats, going to get some OEM's next week. Then interior will look new.

Wont be a record holder, but will be stout none the less. And a mass amount of supporting mods to go with the build.

Man that's clean, I work at the Lexus dealer and I hope to get a isf soon. The prices are still high on them. Nobody puts any miles on them. All the ones I work on are under 20k miles

Agreed, most are sub 60k. On clublexus they range from 38k to 45k.....all are quite clean. One had SSR wheels, tanabe exhaust, coilovers, tune ect ect....55k....was so nice looking.

Speaking of. When I was at Lexus of Charleston, they printed out everything they had on my LS430.

The Lexus dealer in Palatine, IL gave me a print out and it looks different. I wonder what you could find if you searched?

trans issue is pretty normal. i would still sweep the TPS to make sure it isnt dead though, as it could cause the same problem.
