I received a warning a few weeks ago about somebody in Singapore accessing my G-Mail account, so I changed the password. I have an HTC Evo and my G-Mail account is linked to it. After I changed my password online, my phone will no longer pull the e-mails, it affects a lot of other apps on my phone too.

It asks me for my G-Mail password, which I put in, and then it asks me to type in one of those visual code things, which I do. After that, it asks me to type in my password again, and it just keeps repeating this cycle endlessly. I have literally no idea what to do. Any ideas?

Never change your email password when prompted to through an email claiming your email has been hacked. Usually thats how they get your password unless the email was an official google email and the link you clicked on to change your password was an official google link.

If you need to change your password go straight to the google sites URL and do it yourself. Matter of fact if I were you Id go to google right now and change it again before you account gets hacked.

It was an official google e-mail. I do know about the fake e-mails and what not. I like to think I'm not that much of a noob lol. It was an official e-mail with a link directly to google's main site, with the https and everything. It was a suspicious sign-in detected e-mail.

Go through your home computer browser and reset it again. Don't use Firefox, or any other third party web client.

Try Settings>Accounts then set your gmail password there.

Try Settings>Accounts then set your gmail password there.

There's no option to change the password there, just to sync or remove, and I can't remove it without restoring the whole phone to the factory settings.

Just go to google.com and on the top right click the sign in...once you are signed in click your name on the top right and click account-security-password management-ect

Once your password is changed go on your phone and remove your google account and then re-add google with the new password. Everything will sync back up no problems.

I have a black belt in android.

The only way I can remove that account is if I do a factory reset, because the g-mail is linked to so many other apps. That's the problem.

Here's what it says when I go to remove it:

"This account is required by some applications. You can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults (which deletes all of your personal data)."

Must be an HTC sense thing...just change the password on the computer and then try and login to the Google play store or Gmail from your phone and it should prompt you to login with the new password

Read my first post, that's the problem, I changed the password and the phone won't take it for some reason.

Change the password back to the original one?

Change the password back to the original one?

Thought about that but it kind of defeats the purpose, I'll try it anyways though for giggles.

There isnt anyone trying to hack into your email. Even if you gave me your password I wouldnt log into it.

I set it up so if someone tries to log in using my password from a computer other than mine, it sends a text to my phone asking me to put in a verification code to log in.

There is no way around the factory reset unless you are rooted and htc's are usually a pita to root

Won't let me change it to a password I've used before.
