I got a ticket tonight on 17a tonight for a 54 for 45 from an Officer Yacolozzi. not sure if hes a state trooper or what. I have only got one other ticket like 5 years ago so my question is how does this work, is it possible when i go in to court in two months that it will get the points taken off? it is 2 points and 81.50. or do i just need to prepare for the reaming on insurance? anyone that could help me?

2 points is lowest they'll go. State farm never changed my policy for any of my tickets.

It usually takes 4 points against your license for the insurance companies to start digging deeper in your wallet, usually for 3 years. If you are sure it will just be 2 points, I wouldn't sweat it. If you get another 2 pointer within a year, that will add up to 4 points and the insurance company may start digging.

I have heard from other folks that sometimes the insurance companies just do limited spot checks on driving records for older drivers. I once worked with a guy that was in his 50s with a 4 point ticket on his record that didn't get noticed by his insurance company until the last 6 month billing cycle for what would have been the 3 year timeframe since the ticket went on record. He only ended up paying a jacked up premium just for that one billing cycle. This was years ago, so I don't know if luck like this can still be stumbled upon.

Go into court, ask for leniency......depending on how the judge is acting you may get it wiped all the way...

Trooper? Pay it.

City or County? Ask if he will rewrite it to Careless Operation. No points.

Careless is codified in the municipal/county codes and isn't a state law.

If your 3/5 year record is clean and you want a better shot at getting it reduced, go by the highway dept. and pick up a copy of your driving record. Take it with you to court and show up early to see the officer before going into court.

Gerald is correct - most carriers won't pop you for a 2 pointer.

This worked for me for a ticket I got in Alabama a couple years ago. I printed out my driving record report and drove all the way back to Alabama for the court hearing on the hope that it would have an influence. It did and no ticket on my record. Expensive but worth it in the long run.

Im not worried about the 81 dollars but the 2 points is more what i want taken care of so ill see what i can do with that. i have 2 months until the court date so i have a some time. I was worried it was for tint but i was looking for my registration when he walked up with my window up and interior lights on and he didnt say a thing about it.

I got pulled a couple days ago in the SRT-4 for the tint. He was really nice about it though. He wanted to know what kind of car it was and everything. Measured the tint at 5% and gave me a warning.

I have 20% all around and Trooper pulled me over, 200 dollar ticket.
But I think the Trooper did not do much investigating.......as my previous Lexus was a 2003 (like my current one).
But different model. And it had 5% all around and 50% front window. Could not see in it if you tried. I got a fix-it ticket from
that. So I assume this 200$ tint ticket is from him not realizing they are different cars (his tint meter showed it to be at 14% or some
crap).

Going to the optometrist......then going to DMV.

I doubt they check the history for window tint. He probably gave you the ticket because it is 14%. The fix-it-ticket is a favor that he must not have wanted to give you.

Take it to court. If your recent record is clean you have a decent shot of at least getting the points wiped off

A bit late, I am going to court today, I think I am just going to plea no contest and hope for leniency.

But some last minute research I was doing, the powerpoint is pretty decent. Its about the same as what I google searched, but its a little summerville area specific. Worth finding a way to host it.
