Anyone one ever replace the motor mounts in an fbody? anyone have any advice? i looked it up and its sounds pretty clear but when the car was up in the air i didnt see any easy way to do them. I dont expect them to be easy but it doesnt look possible without removing a bunch of shit.

If you have a cherry picker/engine hoist it will make the job a lot easier.

It isn't really hard. You will need to hold the engine up somehow either with the bar that goes across the shock towers or under the pan. Hopefully your air compressor isn't blocking the center bolt from coming out on the right hand side. I don't think the center bolt on the driver's side hit anything.

most people take the AC and alternator off to get the through bolts out. I like to take the stands loose from the k member and Jack the engine up take the mounts loose from the block and move the whole assembly around until the through bolts come out.

Its a pain in the ass if your exhaust wont come apart you are screwed.

Thank for the tips guys. I might try to do it tomorrow. Im gonna just use a trans jack and a piece of wood to lift it. I have a shop on base i can use and its got a pretty good selection of tools. I think im gonna go one side at a time just in case. My exhaust comes apart at the y. I dont need to replace them but i got poly urethane mounts when i ordered my trans mount and torque are bushing. The motor moves around alot with the rubber mounts.

Its going to be hard to do one at a time unless you leave it all loose.

make sure you have a good grinder, you have to grind/drill the rivets out of the factory mounts to bolt the poly ones in

As long as they have a decent bench grinder he should be ok.
