Anybody here ever had one? I just got home from the emergency room and apparantly I have one. I have never in my entire life felt pain like that. I went from being perfectly fine to being on my hands and knees in my house thinking I was dieing in less than one hour. It came on quick and it came on hard. The doctors said that they see grown men come crawling through the doors crying from kidney stones. I can't believe the pain it causes. They gave me morphine right away (still on it actually) and the pain went away, but they said it was going to hurt like a mofo when I pass it. It was so bad I was going to call 911 for an ambulance but instead called my wife and she happened to be close to the house. Lord have mercy that shit hurts. I wouldn't wish that on anyone!

I haven't, but my dad had one that they had to break up then he had to pass all the pieces. He said that was the most painful experience ever. Hope you pass it soon instead of delaying the inevitable.

I had 2 stones... I was fine one second and started to take a leak and bam... on my knees like I got kicked in the nuts. It took me 2 weeks to pass mine. I hope yours pass faster than that. I did cry like a baby a few times.

I took my buddy to the hospital he had one when we were out to eat and we had to carry him to the car, found him on the bathroom floor, he said his kidney and dick killed when it passed, but we did get him to the hospital in time to break up the others so he said it wasn't bad after he got the iv.

Sorry but this is funny! You seem to be in decent shape. I'm surprised you got them. I guess anyone can get them. I thought only people with messed up chemistry or unhealthy bodies get them.

Drink more water. Quick search:

What causes kidney stones?
The leading cause of kidney stones is a lack of water. Stones commonly have been found in those that drink less than the recommended eight to ten glasses of water a day. When there is not enough water to dilute the uric acid (component of urine), the pH level within the kidneys drops and becomes more acidic. An excessively acidic environment in the kidneys is conducive to the formation of kidney stones.

Medical conditions such as Crohn's disease, urinary tract infections, renal tubular acidosis, hyperparathyroidism, medullary sponge kidney, and Dent's disease have been known to lead to kidney stones. It also has been suggested that water fluoridation - the addition of fluoride to drinking water - is responsible for some cases of kidney stones.

Sorry man... but yeah.:barf: First it feels like you got kicked in the nuts until it moves down stream a little bit. And after it passes for a few days a piss will burn like hell. Stones cut and scratch on the way out. What size stone do you have? Mine were 7mm and 5mm.

My dad gets them probably 3 times a year and says its the worst pain you will ever feel. His ussually pass within 2-4 days but over those days you can pretty much count on doing nothing. He always found that laying in a hot bath helped alittle bit also.

They didn't tell me the size. They just said "it's small so it should pass no problem ".

I drink soft drinks and sweet tea, very little water, and they say that's my problem. Needless to say after today I'm drinking water only from now on.

My poor dick. I'm not looking forward to passing it. Hopefully it passes while I'm on my Perkoset.

My dad had them a few years ago. Same as you said. He was doing fine then next thing you know he's rolling around in his bed in pain. Did they give you a screen to pee trough? He had to pee through one and he showed me the kidney stone he passed. It's this tiny white spikey looking thing about the see of a BB. Crazy how something so small can put a grown man on his knees.

I had one a few years ago, hurt like hell thought i had appendicitis. I dont remember the size of it but they did end up blasting mine apart. Either way still hurt like hell passing and yes depending on size of the stone it will hurt your wang on exit.

True or false I dont kow but my grandma says drink some real lemon mixed with a little sugar. Dr's say cranberry so I would go with those two. My wife had a horrible one beginning of the year and has one now again. I hope I never get them cause it pains me to see her on the floor in so much pain and nothing I can do about it.

I got lucky with the one I had. I never had the pain of the stone leaving the kidney. What tipped me off something was up was my morning leak looked just like coca-cola color. A burning sensation accompanied the act of pissing as well. WTF???? Went to a urologist and he said it was blood in the urine, probably from a stone starting to move around in one of my kidneys.

Further testing revealed a large stone 4mm x 6mm in the left kidney. Surgery was scheduled for him to go upstream with some tools (general anesthesia-thank you very much!) and bust it up enough for easy passage. To get tools from the bladder up to the kidney, the passage had to be dilated, so a temporary stent was left in for 5 days after surgery so it wouldn't kink up from being expanded so much. It had surgical string attached that ran through my bladder and out my unit for this whole time. Doc said just keep the end taped to the side of junior there so he could pull it out in the office in about a week. That string sucked because no matter how much I tried to shake dry after taking a leak, it was futile exercise to get drip free.

A week later, I stood in his office pants down straddling a trash can. Doc said to take a deep breath and hold it, and he pulled it on out. It felt like the end was wrapped around my spine for about a second, but he got it out before I could yell holy shit. Luckily, that was the only oh crap pain I had to endure. Whew!

Good luck on yours. An experience like this will turn you towards some more drinking water for sure. Reportedly, a diet high in leafy products like tea or greens can contribute to stone formation, just as well as not enough water passing through the kidneys each day.

After a few months of feeling like someone had my balls in a vise, went to the dr. after 2 CT scans he tells me it's an 11mm kidney stone with "others on deck". To the hospital, put me out to break it up. Did not know a human could piss gravel. Largest piece was a little over 5mm. Passing it was not nearly as painfull as the pain prior to getting it broken up. I now know what I can wish upon to those who piss me off............ Speedy relief to anyone who is living with the stones.

Same info they gave me- green vegetables, soft drinks, chocalates, etc. My cause is definitely the soft drinks. In my profession, I am running around all the time from place to place so i am always stopping getting soft drinks (mostly Mt Dew) from the gas stations. I also have one of those Kangaroo 25 cent cups so that makes it even easier to stop and grab a drink. I'm all about some water right now, believe that! I'm thankful I didn't have to go your route. They told me if it was bigger, I would have had to stay at the hospital and get it out.

What I don't understand and I need to call my doctor today is this-
I was in extreme pain yesterday, and now I'm fine. What was happening yesterday to make me feel like I had a knife in my back? Will I feel that pain again? Do I just go on about my normal life and wait to piss a rock?

Still scared every time I piss......Lol!

Reportedly, the pain starts when a stone starts to leave a kidney on its way to the bladder. The stone becomes a pathway restriction causing painful backpressure on the kidney. Stones seem to have the hardest time completing this journey when they reach the attachment point at the bladder wall, because there isn't as much elasticity there. Enough backpressure has to form to give that last "kick" to push the stone on into the bladder. A lot of people feel instant relief once this happens, but watch out later as it still has to complete the journey out of the body. A lot of times a urinary tract infection accompanies stones on the move which will cause a burning sensation as you urinate. Cranberry juice is a natural way of keeping urinary infections in check.

Mine was similar to Geralds. Doctor said it was the size of a 500mg tylenol, and thats not going to exit no matter how endowed you are. Broke mine up into 3 peices by ultrasonic, 2 passed normally, last one had to be fetched out with the tube. The real thing that sucks is when they remove the tube a few days later, I almost sharted for sure. The thing to do no matter how nasty it is, is try to catch one and take it to the doctor to have it tested, and he can tell you where and how to change your diet. Mine was sodium oxalade. The problem was I added a little salt to my meal on the table. The problem happens when your bodys core tempature doesn't get high enough to disolve the salt. The crystals form in the kidneys, and bang pain city. He said if I prefer more salt to add it during the cooking process, and not at the dinner table. They are bad news for real..

Exactly where mine was on the CT scan- at the door to the bladder. I'm in the waiting room at the urologist office now to get a prescription for Flomax (helps it pass?) and they are also going to check my pee to see what's in there that could be causing it. I hope it's not the Bud Light.

Wes I feel your pain right now. I had a stone hit me 10 days ago. Hurt like a MF'er all night long finally had enough of pain rolling around on the floor and went to the hospital. They gave me morphine and then did a CT scan. I was still in a lot of pain 30 minutes after they gave me the morphine. The Dr ordered Torodol for me. The torodol helped a little but did not kill the pain. Gave me a precription for Vicadin and Torodol, sent me home hurt the rest of the day Wednesday and some Thursday morning. Eased off and thought it was done. I had a little more pain on Friday about noon and some Friday night about 12:30. I thought it was gone then. I setup and appointment with the urologist for Monday at 8:30 they took Xrays and said that I must have passed it. I went to work and climbed a ladder all day. On my way home Monday night the pain started again and it was awful. I got home took a Torodol and Vicadin and it still hurt like hell. I called the Dr's nurse first thing Tuesday morning and she made me an appointment for that afternoon. They took 3 Xrays and finally saw it in one of them. It was at the exit of my Ureathra right at the bladder. He gave me a presciption for Flomax and Demerol. I have yet to pass the bastard. He did tell me it was 3mm. Whats even worse. I got an appoinment Monday afternoon that if I dont pass it he is going to get it. Another thing thats worse I got 2 waiting in my right kidney on 4-5mm and the other 5+mm. He wants to break those up and get them out too.

I told my mother-in-law the other day that a woman aint got nothing on me I have had 2 natural child births(2 kidney stones) and a C section(Inguinal Hernia repair 8 weeks ago).

Hope the best for you and myself. That reminds me I got to go pee and get a cup of water. lol

He told me if it didn't pass in 8 days to call him. He said 2mm wasn't bad at all and that it was already about to drop in my bladder. He said pissing it out was the easy part, the painful part was what you just described. I got some Flomax prescribed to me today too. He said the chances of a 2mm not passing on its own is slim. I hope he is right.

Believe it or not, the doc asked me "you like beer?" I said "well of course I like beer". He said, "the best thing you can do is stop and get a 12 pack on your way home and drink it all tonight. I bet you pass it before bedtime." SO........I might try that!

Dr told me to drink beer too. Told him I didn't really like beer but I could drink the crap outa some SOCO and coke with lime. He said to drink a lot of fluid just like you would when you go out drinking. I told him Tuesday that if it was no out by tonight that I was going on a drinking regimine the weekend and would do my best to get it out. Looks like a 1/2 gallon of SOCO it is for tonight.

I've had 3. They are terrible. I wish you the best. I don't know about you guys, but every one I had came with extreme back pain, lots of vomiting, and total discomfort. I could never get comfortable and hurt like hell last time. Lasted almost 3 days. I had to give my pistol to my roommate so I didn't off myself.... They said the probable cause of mine was too much sweet tea and a lifetime of well water that is high in limestone and calcium deposits. I had mine checked out and 2 were calcium stones and one was a uric acid stone. So, the doctor's prediction was that I would have more. Which really sucks.

So I had to be put to sleep yesterday to have the 3mm stone that has been lodged in my Urter for 4 weeks to be extracted. I had passed 2 small fragments last week and then Tuesday night at 10:00 pm I passed a piece a little smaller than a okra seed. I thought that was it and did not have to have the procedure done--WRONG. I still had a piece in there bigger than an okra seed. They put me to sleep and used the spoon to get it out. Just imagine how they had to get to the stone. I will say this that it feels like I am peeing razor blades when I got to go.
