My trailer was stolen from out at Shawn's last night. Most people on here know what it looks like so keep an eye out. It's a 18ft tophat with a 2 foot dove tail. The drivers side fender has some rust on the back where somthing was spilled on it. If anyone sees it call me, Shawn, or charleston county

It just makes me sick that people are so fucking lazy that you would rather just steals someone else's shit instead of doing this crazy thing called working for your own.

Were there any identifying marks like something stamped into the metal like a number? Or a tag of some kind?

snakeplissken
08-31-2012, 10:30 AM
Sorry Zac. I don't like to leave mine anywhere except inside the fence buried behind a bunch of cars.

As much as I hate to say it, SC is going to start tagging trailers in the future. It is a stream of taxes that the state is missing out on and with no tags/serial numbers required pawn shops can play dumb.

I checked craigslist. Not likely but if they're dumb enough to steal something they are dumb enough to advertise it on the internet. Sorry about it dude.

it was hooked to shawns truck for him to use today. they picked it up off the truck and carried it across the yard to another truck

i started locking the safety chains to the loops on the truck.

and i bought the cross pin that locks your tow ball into the receiver on your truck

John Goff, on 78, said he would have people come ask him about his trailers, and he knew they were gonna steal it, so he would move it to the center or inside or something.

trailers are cold hard cash on wheels.

hit this link every day for next 6 months. (http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy-ab&hl=en&safe=active&q=car+trailers+craigslist.com&oq=car+trailers+craigslist.com&gs_l=hp.12...1534.31846.3.33303.6.6.0.0.0.0.202.71 6.3j2j1.6.0.les%3B..0.0...1c.wu8IvE-TLAw&psj=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=6056568ec2a78087&biw=1429&bih=892)

I like this link / site better, because you specify distance. (http://www.searchtempest.com/results.php?location=29406&maxDist=250&region_us=1&search_string=%22car+trailer%22&keytype=adv&Region=na&cityselect=zip&page=0&showeb=1&category=8&subcat=sss&minAsk=min&maxAsk=max)
and it shows you the date it was posted, and the town it is listed in

Damn that sucks. Will keep an eye out for it. Any VIN of sorts on it?

Having the VIN on hand for the tow dolly is what got it back after it was stolen and brought to Money Man in Summerville.

It sounds like you already have but in case you havent yet make sure you file a police report. Theres a much better chance of finding it again.

are trailers covered by homeowners or separate auto insurance?

04ctd
08-31-2012, 04:01 PM
I put mine on my car insurance, and put roadside assistance on it, in case i blew a tire or bent an axle or spindle..

Darryl Buckner
08-31-2012, 04:15 PM
I have a policy on the trailer only, they wouldn't do contents. State Farm told me home owners would cover it, if it was in the garage..

I've got coverage on my enclosed through my car insurance. It was like 9$ extra per month.

I use http://www.greatamericaninsurancegroup.com/Pages/default.aspx

They cover everything, car, its parts on or off the car, trailer, trailer contents, golfcart, etc...They will even cover while racing buts its expensive. My policy stops after the water box and coverage starts again on the return road. My trailer is actually cheaper through them than it was through USAA.

The one that Darryl spotted at the moneyman in Goose Creek has been there for the past 3 or 4 weeks. I pass by there every morning leaving my neighborhood going to work, so I know it's not Zac's trailer. They do get a bunch of trailers through that store. Will definitely keep an eye out for his at that store.

We have had a huge problem with this. Seems to be people from out of the area mostly. 2500 and 3500 trucks get stolen then a large trailer and then they do one of two things. Hit the interstate immediately or circle a neighborhood load up with motorcycles then hit the interstate. We have gotten a lot of them but there really are so many.

Ever heard of the Thunder Guards?
