Looking for a SMALL amount of exhaust work.

Hey folks. I currently drive a 08 Cobalt SS Turbo and what I'm looking for is
just to have a muffler delete done. I am wanting to keep the tip that is
currently on the exhaust and just have the muffler removed and replaced
with straight pipe. I called around to a few exhaust shops in the west ashley
and north charleston area and feel like I was given some pretty insane
quote's. Wont name the shop but one shop literally quoted half the cost of
an entire magnaflow exhaust set up for my car. If anyone knows of any
exhaust shops worth calling or is comfortable with doing the work themselves
I would appreciate the recommendations. Thanks folks.


edit for further clarification: I'm not looking for cat or resonator delete.

I will attempt to helps you. Roadcone owns a Slowbalt ss/tc, which he constantly moans about ever getting in the first place. He used to own a Mustang, but staying true to his rice burner heart, he purchased said Metro Zl1 and did the Brazilian Mod (muff delete). It is truely gawd awful. By teasing you with homo erotic jokes, Cone was actually trying to warn you of the horribly annoying modification you are willingly about to perform to your prized rental car. So please, dont be angry at him as he was only trying to help.

why not just do electronic cutout in the downpipe? would cost a little more but definitely has more benefits.

Muffler delete makes zero power since stock is 2.75"... replacing the factory downpipe is where the gain is... a cutout actually will lose power over just a normal 3" downpipe into a 100% stock catback
.. but then again I'm just some ricer with fender FLAIRS... Woooooooooooo!

i'm not talking about putting the cutout in for power. i know nothing about those 4 cylinder GM motors or the cars they come in. i'd never buy a domestic 4 cylinder.

i just figured if he was wanting to do a muffler delete he wanted it louder, which most people usually end up regretting after awhile. cutout would help spool if nothing else, and make it louder only when he wanted.
