View Full Version : New best on 18" Drag Radials.
Headed out to Dorchester today on my new MT Drag Radials 305/45/18.
On the 1st pass I barely squezzed the throttle trying not to spin. There wasn't even a hint of spin. I cut a 1.879 60', granted this is on a nicely prepped track (10.5 tire shootout tonight). The thing that surprised me was the 7.693@ 93.915 on the bottom of the slip. I thought maybe I messed up the tune and had too much timing for 93 ocatane. Or even the E.T. lights at the track were messed up. Well I decided to make another pass in the other lane to make sure it wasn't a fluke. With almost no cool down, this was my next run:

On the way home I caught up with Randy and verfied the timing was correct for 93 octane. After the disapointing time I had last weekend I was pretty happy with these results. I know it's still not a 6.99, but it's a new best for me.

Looks like Randy and I are screwed.:b:
Nice times Mike what kind of boost were you running?
Thanks Daryl, I'm still doubting my ET, I hope I can back it up next week when it will count.

This is where I got mine, he ships immediately. I had them in 3 days, and they are around a 100 cheaper than summit.

Nothing top secret here there was full disclosure lol. I guess Randy and I should get prepared to see a lot of :booty5:

Yea I was gone pretty early. I think I was gone before 5:00.
I finally put the CRX on the track and I am pretty disappointed in the results, I am almost a whole 3 sec. behind MIKE. I've been doing a little research on putting a turbo in the CRX and it's going to run me a little under 4k to do it right and I might be able to get almost 600 whp in a car that's going to weight less then 2k lbs. without my fat ass in it.
Well got a slight improvement on these tires.
60' ----1.733
1/8-----7.565
MPH----93.050
Now the next thing for me to do, is to see how long they last. I'm guessing if I slow down on the track passes I might get 3-4k miles on them.

Have you had any problems with tire spin? We have 325/50,s on the chevelle and I swear they hook better than the ET streets that we use to run and they last a whole lot longer.

I have only tried pushing them one time, and they lit up. All my other passes I just rolled into the throttle. I still don't think I've found the sweet spot with them.
These tires are 29" tall, but are on a 18" wheel. Not much side wall compared to a 15". I have some 315/60/15s, and Bill went 1.47 60' on those. Seemed like they were hooking as good as the Hoosier slicks.

Yea. I guess the side wall would make a diff. Congrats on making them work as good as you have. We have thought about switching to the 315,s. I think we have to mutch gear. And I might have found us a converter. Its not the custom built one we were going to get but it should do better than the one we have. Buying it from a freind of ours in greenville. Its in a old gallaxie that runs low 6's at 4200 lbs. He's putting some big ass motor in it, and doesnt think it'll hold up with that converter.
