This guy is trying to break the 52 year old record of Capt. Joe Kittenger for highest parachute jump and break the sound barrier as well. This dude is nuts!

2nd day in a row it has been cancelled. Been following this since last week. Curious if he will pass out or not when he hits the sound barrier.

why would he pass out? the speed of sound at 120k feet is WAYYYYYY higher than it is at sea level...

Actually the speed of sound is lower at higher altitude but not by that much, 696 mph vs. 760 at sea level. Besides, it will take him a little bit to reach that speed.

I was watching it this afternoon and they said that he wanted to hit that speed 20 to 30 seconds into the jump and then keep the speed for 20 to 30 seconds.

Pretty sure someone has already jumped out of a balloon in a space suit. Remember them saying that he couldn't even tell he was falling because of the lack of air making noise.

p.s.

yall officially wore out the tags. Mike needs to remove the feature.

729mph . Did not get the record for longest free fall time. But he was over 228,000 feet though when he jumped. Awesome jump. Not for me though.

Was only 128,000 feet today. 833.9mph which is Mach 1.24. From what I read those are the stats for today.
