talked to a few of my friends back home lately, and they were complaining that their house was small, and they seemed to think other people cared.
i don't really CARE how big your house is. if you are good people, decent, and don't lie, and you are a man of your word, i pretty much respect you and think you are good person.
i used to think the size of someone's house mattered, like they say "the best revenge is living better"
but later on, i came to realize that most folks are not in the "house of their choice" things just happened, and it is...what it is.
like my Dad has a house for sale for ~$45K up in mountains in NC.
it ain't much, but it's on half an acre, and you could buy the acre beside it for nothing. house would last a few more years, then bull doze it and put in a double wide, and be living cheeeeeeeeep.
get the DW paid off, and put in a 6 bay, two story, 4 lift "Garage-Mahal"
and be the "CHP king of the rednecks."
my high school buddy had a LARGE house on the lake. the tiny house besides his parents came up for sale, and he sold his big house, and moved in there to help his mom take care of his dad (Parkinsons)
that's awesome. taking care of family is important.
another buddy had a beautiful ~$200k house that was PAID FOR, in a nice neighborhood.
his wife got a crazy idea, and he built a 3 story house on a deep water lot, i bet the house was $500k, and the lot was prolly $75k.
and now he owes money on it, and the power bill is like $300 a month,
and he HATES it.
the house got done right as the economy collapsed.
the only thing i care is if it's clean. my mama used to say:
"there's an excuse for being poor, but there's no excuse for being dirty"
so I am spending big coin to have the house carpet shampoo'ed today.
do you guys keep your house clean enough to have company in comfortably?
