talked to a few of my friends back home lately, and they were complaining that their house was small, and they seemed to think other people cared.

i don't really CARE how big your house is. if you are good people, decent, and don't lie, and you are a man of your word, i pretty much respect you and think you are good person.

i used to think the size of someone's house mattered, like they say "the best revenge is living better"

but later on, i came to realize that most folks are not in the "house of their choice" things just happened, and it is...what it is.

like my Dad has a house for sale for ~$45K up in mountains in NC.
it ain't much, but it's on half an acre, and you could buy the acre beside it for nothing. house would last a few more years, then bull doze it and put in a double wide, and be living cheeeeeeeeep.
get the DW paid off, and put in a 6 bay, two story, 4 lift "Garage-Mahal"
and be the "CHP king of the rednecks."

my high school buddy had a LARGE house on the lake. the tiny house besides his parents came up for sale, and he sold his big house, and moved in there to help his mom take care of his dad (Parkinsons)

that's awesome. taking care of family is important.

another buddy had a beautiful ~$200k house that was PAID FOR, in a nice neighborhood.

his wife got a crazy idea, and he built a 3 story house on a deep water lot, i bet the house was $500k, and the lot was prolly $75k.
and now he owes money on it, and the power bill is like $300 a month,
and he HATES it.
the house got done right as the economy collapsed.

the only thing i care is if it's clean. my mama used to say:
"there's an excuse for being poor, but there's no excuse for being dirty"

so I am spending big coin to have the house carpet shampoo'ed today.

do you guys keep your house clean enough to have company in comfortably?

I go into peoples houses everyday and some are ridiculous. And girls like to say guys are messy... but 99% of the time its the girls rooms that are disgusting. Ive pretty much seen it all by now but there are still some houses that suprise me how people can live the way they do... and its not just people with no money, ive been in a few 1m+ dollar homes that i wouldnt live in if you paid me.

We keep our house clean as far as dirt and grime and things like that. It only gets messy because I get lazy with the mail and clothes get tossed on the floor. But it never gets bad enough that it would take us anymore than 10 or 15 minutes to clean up if company is coming over. I guess it's more clutter than anything else.

I've been in a ton of people's houses. At one point as a contractor and now in my current job. Now before people paid me to come in so they had lots of notice. People in health care would keep the most terrible houses....dentist were the absolute worse.

Now I get called in and there is no warning most houses are ok but the trailer parks and HUD apartments seem to not care at all. It's so bad I now know what a roach infestation smells like even if I don't see them off the rip.

My house..put laminate floors in to keep from shampooing carpet and microfiber furniture for easy cleaning. We have two teenaged boys so stuff is cluttered but not so much dirty.

Isn't that the truth.

Got some cluttered areas, but nothing that cant be made to look presentable quickly. Just gotta finish organizing stuff we don't need out into boxes and put it in the garage. Worst part is probably clothes ending up everywhere.

I got lucky and married an OCD woman who can't take ANY sort of dirty/messy-ness if you will. Home is always clean as hell. Only messy area is my garage work station. It's my area. Too many tools for a small 5 ft tool box. Time to upgrade

<- Vacuums Daily. With three dogs in the house we have to keep it clean or it only takes a day to get out of hand. Theres some clutter of course but like said above 10 minutes were ready to party.

Inside of the house is always decent enough. GF keeps it that way. Now the yard. That's another story.
