Planing on doing the swap. Starting to collect parts now. How much do you have in your swap so far?

Thanks

If you dont even have a donor car then going to be well over 10k. Most that I have seen are in the 10k range for large parts. That's depending on the trans and if its new or used parts. Thats not including cluster and other little stuffs that always come up. The resale value is good on them though. Mostly around the 20k range in a clean fox with a good clean swap. 16ish in average bodies with shade tree swaps. Was looking at doing it in the Mystic but just cant justify the cost. The ohh aahhh factor is good and all but you can get the same thing from an older 5.4 and a coyote boss or cobra jet intake with a pair of hair driers under the hood.

Do what you want to do. Don't let the lsx nazis bother you. Two of the lsx guys in this thread don't have engines in their cars.

Hell having a ford motor in a ford car is being different now a days. Why follow the crowd?

coyote is a great motor, but it is still very expensive. thats my only issue with it in terms of doing a swap with one. ford in a ford or chevy in a chevy doesnt mean much to me, i really dont care i dont bleed blue or have the heartbeat of america thumping in my chest. never did really understand that whole deal.

The question is, What is 1iron gonna do when a lil 5.3 truck mota with a turbo comes by that stroker windsor on the back tires bout the 330 mark?

If I want a chevy motor I buy a chevy car. It is that simple. I don't dislike chevy , ford or dodge. I just don't cross breed cars and motors. Why reinvent the wheel.

Harry

Oh and I agree the Coyote motor is expensive right now. Give it ten years like the LS motors and they will be affordable also.

Doubt that. Limited production compared to the LS.

How do you figure that. Hell they are even in trucks in some form just like chevrolet did.

True. I guess when you say COYOTE motor I think MUSTANG motor not a F150 motor. Even then, Ford trucks are the most dependable longest lasting trucks on the road. Wont see any in the junkyards anytime soon. As compared to the LS which is in Tahoes, Yukons, Suburbans, Escalades, 1500s, 2500s, 3500s, Trailblazers, GTO's, Camaros, Trans-Ams, OH and MONAROS! lol. "coyotes" will never be $250-$300 like the a junkyard 5.3 IMO.

Not to sway the thread, but what's the deal with the 5.3? Why are they so cheap and so sought after? Can you just put whatever heads on and go? Do they lose much since its down almost half a liter to the LS1? Just wondering

Never said it was going to be that cheap, But it ten years you will still be able to get them cheaper than you will now. That was my only point.

ShawnBoyMoody
02-04-2013, 11:03 PM
Just cheap, thats why they are sought after. As far as swapping heads remember most of your aftermarket heads start off as 5.3 castings....
