Do i need to put tags on my 14 enclosed trailer to go out of state ?

No. You may get stopped for it but nothing they can do.

Edit: now you really think I'm a cop. I got stopped with the four wheelers in Georgia and the cop walked up to the bumper and saw the truck plates and shook his head. Got to the window and said he was sorry, Didnt realize I was from sc. Have a good day. Good thing, as there were some open beers in the console lol

PapaBear is correct. You might get pulled but once they realize youre from SC they'll let you go. However, I have heard of people getting their trailers confiscated at a big race in NC when the cops came through the parking lots checking VIN tags on trailers. Those who had no proof of ownership got their trailers impounded....

OK thank you guys my father is heading up to maryland this weekend and staying with my grandmother they have told us we have less than 2 weeks left with her so going up early just don't want to deal with a bunch of crop i would rather rent a u-haul

Littering is a problem in any state so if you need me to help you install your vent visors correctly holla. Would hate for them to fly off.

14 foot you will be ok. But in SC you cannot just pull whatever size trailer your truck can pull without tags.

You need tags if leaving SC. like said above, you risk it being confiscated if you can't show ownership. I have a title and tags for mine.

Don't risk it outside sc IMO. It can be a bit of a hassle in states like Florida or even Georgia. Just depends on the cop that pulls you over.

I really don't know the cut off. I had a Florida D.O.T. officer came out the weight station and pull me over when I had my 50' trailer. Made me take the next off ramp and go back across the scales. I had no tags, but apparently they have a max total lenght of truck and trailer together, and weight without DOT numbers. In Georgia and N.C. the worse thing you can have is something racing on your trailer. They will stop you and if you are hauling race fuel without plackards, busted. The funny thing is in both states, you can haul 5 gallon plastic jugs of fuel without plackards, but if you have a big metal drum of fuel they will burn you. I ended up getting tags on my 50' so they would leave me alone, but I haven't yet on my 32' trailer, and apparently you cannot transfer trailer tags. Just be careful they look for things like break away cable being attached to the tow vehicle, thats a $600.00 fine if not connected. No real problems in SC, but outside be careful.:bigthumb:

I have heard it is a state by state case but if another state requires tags you better have them no matter where you are from. A lot of reports on the internet about it. That's why I got one for my enclosed trailer. Permanent tag was $70 I think. It is not transferable.

Hell if a tag is only 70 I'm cool with that but I won't have time before Saturday to do it. Ill just carry my title and hope all is well.

you can get a year by year for cheaper, but if you plan on keeping it more than 3 years just get the permanent.

Lady at the DMV told me if it was for personal use I didn't need a tag

just get a permanent tag for it, no renewal fees and no chance of getting pulled over in another state, not much money to pay for piece of mind

I agree jimmy and that's what I plan to do shortly. We went to Cleveland Tennessee with it Saturday without an issue but I will say the thought was in my mind the whole time.

this is what i was told. at first they were trying to make me get a tag for my 5 ton equipment trailer which is like 2200lbs or something like that. but some other lady came out and said the cutoff was 2500lbs or she thought.
i figure a ~16ft+ enclosed will need a tag even in sc as it will weigh over 2500.
