After 2 hard seasons of racing, I finally broke something on my car. Snapped the left axle last night @ Dorchester.
I want to thank Darryl, Jeff, and Morey for helping me get the car off the starting line and into a parking spot. Jeff's wife for taking me home so I could get my truck and his trailer, and to Jeff, Morey, Ed, and Russell for helping me load the car on Jeff's trailer. I could not have done it without your help. It is sure a great thing to have friends around to help you in your hour of need. I'm forever greatful to all of you for the help last night.
Now comes the painful part of having to fix the car. It's only money right!!!:bigthumb:

No problem. We had enough folks to help. I actually had to use the brakes after getting pushed up onto the trailer. They had the car rolling along pretty good!!

That was a great run together we had. Our cars were neck & neck the whole way. Darryl managed to edge me out just a bit on the top-end of the track for the win. But that was a good race though.

have fun getting it out. my guess is it broke at the splines where the axle tapers down (if she's a stocker). order some mosers and get to gettering.

X2 When my stock axle broke at the splines in the cobra it was a Royal PITA to remove.

I had a time getting the broken piece to move in far enough to get the c clip out, but once the c clip was out, it slid nice and easy out towards the other end.

I did get it fixed. Here's the list of goodies that went in. Detroit locker, 31 spline mosiers, new differential cover/gurdle, and FRPP 3.73's. The car seems to like all the upgrades, I just need to keep driving it around to get used to the locker. It does indeed work though. Just not ready to run it at the track though. Want to put some more break-in miles on it, before really sticking it too hard.

The Locker will have you getting out of the car and see what is tearing up, but for the strip there is only one thing better. For the 9.75 there are adjustment to make it release softer or harder depending on what you need.

You can definitely tell when it locks and unlocks. Not sure about any adjustments though. I'll have to check into that. I've put about 90 miles on it since I got it back on Sunday. I'm still getting used to it. If anyone knows about how to make adjustments if it's possible, then speak up if you will please.

when we rebuilt and reshimmed the rear on mine, I thought the whole rear was breaking. LOL. made all kinds of clicking and popping noise until it was broken in.
Should of got a spool. Only noise is the sound of 1,000+ miles scrubbing off your tires with every turn. :hide:

Hey damn it. The chevelle has a spool and I love it. The last set of tires lasted 2 years. And we only have the one set of tires. DR,s.

We already had to put tires on the Mustang because of the spool.
A spool is useless on a car that couldn't spin a pair of skinnies on a open differential. :hysterical:

I broke 2 t-45s with a pro 5.0, and I broke one with a ripper (it's been a long time, but I think that was the name of the shifter b&m made.)

normally it has to run before you can have a chance to break it again.
There is a minimum "buy in" fee to drive the car.

sorry brandon,,, but you'll have to add 3 zeros to have enough for the non refundable deposit......plus paying for everything you break....and from the sound of it that can get kind of expensive

then how did you bust them? missing gears?

My 2000 would always jam 3rd when driving it hard with the MGW in it. I actually liked the stock shifter better. A lot longer but it never hung going into 3rd.

doesn't sound like a trans problem then.

a trans just doesn't break on it's own - unless there is more power going through it than it can handle.
sounds like practice is needed at rowing the gears if you're going through trannies left and right.

Seems to me that there was a way to tighten and/or loosen the spring pressures. I will look for the paper work that came with mine. From the factory it is set about 3/4 of all it will do.
