Eventually I want to get my car down into the 9's. I know the stock parts wont cut it. Obvisouly suspension parts are in order but what about the cage? I dont plan on running any class races, NMRA, FFW etc etc. Just a bracket / street car. What do I have to have to be certified to go that fast?

6 point will take you all the way to 10.0

After that I think you need a 10 point. Maybe Darryl Buckner will respond he's legal to be in the 9's, not that he could ever go that fast. :poke:

Most of the tracks I have been to are not that strict. As long as your not running in the big events, they would probably let you get away with just a 6point.

you can probably get away without the serious stuff. i got kicked out of dorchester at 6.8's but you might get away with faster, might not. i'm sure with a 6 point you could get away with most tracks around here

Well... I'm a safety consultant for a living so just 'getting by" isn't really what I had in mind.

Well going 9's rules. 10 to 12 point with NHRA certification, also must have halo around your head. I had Cameron @ Camtech do mine, and he got it inspected, I can hook you up if you like. Also 5 point harness within date, double layer pants, and jacket, neck collar, gloves and helmet. SFI balancer, flywheel, bellhousing, transmission shield, driveshaft loop, window net, and don't forget an NHRA or IHRA open competition license. Safety on/off switch outside of the vehicle. Or run at local tracks like Dorchester, and get away with no tech inspection. I am sure there are a few other things, but NHRA has a check list on line, and also you can talk with the tech inspector at the Gainesville raceway office, he handles this area...:bigthumb:

When I get a chance I am going to stop by Camtech's shop and talk to those guys. I was going to buy a kit from Team Z but im not sure what the lead time is going to be. Its a winter project anyway but I want to get it done asap so I can run the car full out.

Well let me know if you want me to go with you and introduce you to the owner. I have known Cameron for about 15 years, and I can get you some kind of discount..
