So I decided that I needed a 2nd battery to fill up the extra battery tray under the hood of my truck. I got the parts together and got it done this week.

2 batteries are better than 1

Now you may ask why I wanted 2 batteries. Well I am putting in my CB, 500 watt linear, and ,lights in my dog box. I am ordering a 12,000 lb winch for it in the next couple of weeks with 2 285,000 candle power KC off road lights. I didn't want to be running all the accessories off of just 1 main cranking battery. The isolator I got has a override that will jump the main battery off the Aux. battery if the cranking battery happens to go dead. The main cranking battery is like 650 Cold Cranking AMPs and my AUX battery is 850CCA.

guys on the Tahoe forums are putting a marine battery box in there, and filling it up with emergency stuff.

sounds like your idea is better :)

i ran this setup in my cutlass back in the day for the stereo. had a big ol alternator on it. cutlasses were available with a diesel engine, so i found one in the junkyard and took its passenger side battery tray. worked great.
