Now that Redline is unfortunately a thing of the past, where do you recommend I take my 01 Cobra for some work?

First and foremost it needs some clutch troubleshooting. Hopefully it's as simple as the cable.

Second, it's currently turbocharged, and I'd like to do a proper N/A build, which is what the motor was initially built for.

I'm looking for someone who can provide both technical consultation and the actual implementation.

JP and Randy still tune... As for a shop to do the build you are MIA.

It really is a shame that Redline shutdown. :(

I think Justin is always down to rebuilding an engine, if you're feeling frisky enough to trust it in his hands. lolll

Its hell keeping a shop open... I assume the logistics didnt make sense like most other shops i've known of shutting down.

what are you looing to do ?

Essentially, this car was initially built as a high compression, high rev N/A build. It's an excellent engine, (Livernois built) and I don't have plans to open it up. An owner later, and it's too slow. So, they install an On3 turbo kit. It's a horrible kit, and it's on the wrong type of motor. I'm looking to convert it back to N/A, and have a couple additional things done to the car, such as gears, long tubes, etc.

The conversion is going to take a little work. Smaller injectors, etc. Nothing big, but I want to make sure it's properly planned out and implemented.

They are closing their doors. I don't know the details.

with a decent turbo on it and some stinky gas that thing should FLY, those FR500 cams bleed off a fair amount of that compression

The main reason I want to get rid of the turbo is because it's a road race build. That car is going to be so hot down here on summer days, and I'd much rather have the reliability of N/A.

Turbo won't have the heat issues of a supercharger.

You will need a good CAI, also i would look into MAC longtubes instead of bbk. You can get the MAC with a 3Inch collector along with the 3 inch to 2.5 in x pipe on lethal performance for probably less than you can get the skinny bbks and they will breath more.

What heads are on it?

I would guess stock, there arnt really any aftermarket heads for 4v unless they are just a ported version of stock heads.

RoadconeTuning
10-04-2013, 09:44 AM
if it has an on3 kit it has stock heads... ported 4v heads are effin' expensive and the good stock castings, 00CobraR and GT heads, are even more expensive....

If you're selling all fo that stuff I'd take that money and buy some American Racing Headers. my BBK's were garbage and MAC's are even worse quality...

03SVTCOBRA
10-04-2013, 09:52 AM
I agree that Amercian racing headers are better fitment but...
Mac long tubes + x pipe= $735
American racing + x pipe= $1690

I have macs and i only had one small issue that they didnt weld 100% of a o2 bung. They offered to pay for someone to weld it locally without question but i had a friend do it. Fitment wise for me they were spot on.

I honestly don't have a particular number in mind. Whatever it can make reliably.

Stock heads.

You got it. I'd prefer to sell the kit as a whole, as it will be an asspain to sell all the individual crap by themselves. What are you interested in?

Ide probably take it all, how long before you start making moves on the project? Its a bad time for me atm but probably in the next 2 weeks i could probably grab it.

In all seriousness there's not really anywhere here that can do what you need with a mod motor. Like Tyler said travis lane is good, hes in lexington, and there are a bunch of shops in the upstate that can work on them but there are just none down here. Only one i would have taken mine to is Redline and its closed.

i just sold my mach 1 with stock bottom end and heads with comp cams it make 370 to the tires. you need a ported intake if you want to pick up a good bit of power
