Anyone have an old fridge/freezer they want to get rid of? The compressor in the one I have now (in the shop), has bit the dust.

I have one. The freezer always keeps stuff frozen, but sometimes the fridge doesn't stay completely cool. Its yours for free if you're interested? Just let me know Jeff.

sounds like an airflow problem. either the fan isnt working, the door to the fridge side isnt opening, or the evap coil is freezing up due to the defrost system not working.... which creates a big block of ice that air cant flow through to the fridge side.

I need the fridge side to be more functional than the freezer side... Frozen Octoberfest not too drinkable :) Warm Octoberfest; drinkable but tastes tuurrible :D Definitely don't want to sound ungrateful, I sure appreciate the offer Mike.

I'll see if I can find one on CL without getting shot or stabbed in the process.

how old is the fridge with the problem? if you could figure it out, the parts are dirt cheap. my 6 year old ge had a thermostat fail closed which burned out the heating element. started freezing up in the freezer side and running warm on the fridge side. new thermostat and heating element were like $40 or some junk.

Couldn't tell ya how old, I would guess around 10 maybe. I'd love to fix it but right now my back won't allow me to do anything of the such.
