6.0 and it still runs? That's a rare one.

Yup, seems fine. It's a little beat up, but sounds like a steal at $3k......

No?

Not for me.

This will be a 2 mile round trip boat pulling truck and a dump run truck.

Worth it for sure right?

the engine itself is worth more than $3k.

Just My $ .02 (against that 3k in Your pocket...)

6.0l are...a Nightmare! Unless You've had enough time under the hoods of them and know all their quirks (and BELIEVE ME they're there, and some More specific to certain years...) Heres what would make it a Steal:

*HPOP (High Pressure Oil Pump) STC fittings have been replaced w/ "Newer"/Revised style

*Its had the "Ford Fix" (I.e. EGR Delete)

1) Intake manifold replaced/acid bath to remove 120K miles worth of "coking" effect-Excessive carbon build up in the intake. (Ive seen 6.0's that BARELY idle in worst case scenarios)

2) Head gaskets- Ford replaces blown HG's with Cometic HG's & ARP head bolts/or studs depending on customer usually

*Bed plate gasket has been replaced already. A bit of a job for novice or "mid level" mechanic

Off the top of my head THOSE are the main problematic areas. Most guys that got them New put a Banks, Bully Dog etc tuners on them, cranked the boost and pop'ed HG like they were going outta style. Unfortunately I believe Ford propositioned Uncle Sam and offered a "Buy one get 6 free" cause the Air Force has A TON of them. Everywhere I've ever deployed has an excessive amount of them...

Again, I have enough time, dirt under my finger nails and trouble shooting time under my belt to have learned a thing or two about the Ford-International (Inner-TRASH-inal) Legal catastrophic diesel

Just my $ .02 though....
