Got an issue of Super Chevy this week with a big note on it that said something like Behold your shitty magazine's replacment! Something along those lines anyway. Still sucks.

there is also a new generation of people coming up that DONT READ. they dont even hardly read in school. they dont know how to spell, and they cant write. they need animated pictures and touch screens to keep their attention. schools are wanting to get rid of books for laptops/tablets, stopped teaching cursive and alot of the english stuff we had to learn. 4th grade level now is like our 2nd grade, im pretty sure. WTF came up with that dumbass math they are teaching?!?!?

lets dumb everything down some more.

Idiocracy, we're on the way.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't read books. It doesn't interest me in the least bit. I do however read tech articles and forums. But you will not catch me reading a book for enjoyment, that's punishment. I have to read boring manuals at work, that's enough for me.

Couldn't agree more! But this is all just one Very small element of the big picture. No one will doubt that Knowledge IS power. Well, continue to Dumb down the masses and guess who wins. ...all just part of a bigger plan

i dont read novels and stuff like that, but while in school we had to read books and do reports on them and stuff. my big thing was reading magazines. i took a big interest in r/c cars early on, and later morphed into car audio. i got magazines on those 2 topics and read them cover to cover multiple times till i got a new one. dad always got popular hot rodding, car craft, popular mechanics, and hot rod. i read all those too.
i think it helped me with grammar, honestly. because magazines were written properly. reading through some craigslist ads shows how important grammar is... i mean, who would want to buy a camEro from someone? or someone looking to SALE an ELDERBROCK carb? that makes me not even want to talk to the person.

people who are too dumb to help themselves have no choice but to comply.

Really? My daughter starts kindergarten on Tuesday and can read any single syllable word you show her and write any 3 or 4 letter word after
Only going to 4-k. I remember learning to read and write in first to second grade not 4-k.

I attended public school and she was/is in private that could be the difference though.

We leave car mags in the bathroom at work to read whilest making a poo. I bring some in while other bring some in. Im not sure i like the direction of "hey lemme borrow your tablet/phone/device while I shit" were seemingly heading towards.

I read books too though. Mostly music biographies and historical books on wars and shit.
