Anybody have any opinions on a good gun safe? I now have too many to be just sitting around in a closet, and would also like to store some important papers and valuables. Anybody know of any good quality that won't break the bank? Ideally would like to spend under $300 or so if possible. There's just so many options out there, don't know what's good and what's crap.

I wish I had the money to spend 3-5k or more on a safe, but I simply don't. Even a cheap one is better than nothing I suppose...

most folks a gun safe (just a sheet metal box with drywall spaced and inch inside for fire rating) and a small document safe, they keep inside that safe.
there has to be some way to find a deal on one, but i have not figured it out. they seem to be high $$.

not gonna get much more than 10 gun safe(hardly room for 10 guns with optics) for less than $350...unless you are okay with a "gun cabinet"...which isn't theft/fire safe...but a theft deterrent if anything..your decent budget safes that will have enough room for extra document storage will be in the 500-800 range...you have to factor in fire rating...how many locking points...thickness of steel...if you dont care about all these factors that keep your belongings (docs and guns) truly safe then you dont need a safe and a cabinet will do.

Yea it sounds like a cabinet is what I need. As long as it locks and will at least deter a thief it will work. I have 3 long guns with optics, a shotgun and pistol. I'm sure I'll have more when all is said and done though.

What did you get? This one continues to impress me, took it skeet shooting and was hitting every clay, super fun to shoot.

ALWAYS buy bigger than what you THINK you need. Trust me. And the wife always decides she wants to keep shit in there too.
I say wait for the sale and buy the 48 gun Cannon at Tractor Supply for 20% off and no interest for 12 months if you sign up. $699 and me and you could get in it.

I knew what I wanted when I sold you that one. This is also a weapon I trained others with when I was a SAMI, well the M500 anyhow. Just not a fan of the safety position and forearm release location on the Remington. When I retired from the Navy the Master of Ceremony at my retirement was also my best man at my wedding. He collected enough money from my command to not only buy a Mossberg 590A but to also have it cerakoted in Navy Blue. Another peer made a shadow box for it. Best retirement gift I ever saw in my 20 years.

That's really cool. Speaking of Navy, just traded for and removed a Navy slide cover plate for a full frame glock if you want it.....I can't bring myself to discard it.
