sooooo Im just minding my own business coming down I26 from working downtown...cruise set on 65...no hurry to be anywhere...and I notice a car coming up quickly on my left...also notice a set of tail lights pulled off to the right side of the road...so I begin to smile as Im about to see someones night wrecked....sure enough the guy in the left lane sees the tails as well and immediately matches my speed of 65 as it is in fact the posted speed limit...the blue lights come on as we pass the cop...the cop gets into the right lane...and over into the middle lane...and NEVER GETS INTO THE LEFT LANE....he pulls me over and says I was doing 80 in a 65 and knocked it down to 74 in a 65 to "help me out" and thats the lowest he can go regardless to my claim of having my cruise set on 65....so Ill be going to court up in moncks corner at 10am later this month...fucking corvette:boohoo:

was the other car a vette? Is there a way you can get a copy of the dash cam?

Do you a have a gps? That will show maximum speed? Drive around somewhere and get the max speed up to 67-68 (gotta have a few mph wiggle room) and take a picture of it... Try to use that as evidence.

DPS.
That's a bad deal but when you go to court see if he'll reduce it to a "catch all" ticket. I've got the statute cite in my desk at the office so PM me tomorrow.
It's a no pointer but still a pisser.

Ask for a jury trial, more than likely they'll drop it.

I agree with the jury trial. Not supposed to write a ticket unless your 100% sure. Would really rather let 100 speeders go than write 1 ticket to the wrong guy. Who was the officer?

Was pretty simple...requested jury trial...FINALLY got a date...showed up...said no plea deal, trooper and I introduced ourselves to jury candidates, selected 6 jurors, trooper gave his side of story, I gave mine, 10-15min later they came back with a not guilty verdict.

Nice! It's about time it's settled.
It would be a lot sweeter if you could be reimbursed for time lost from work to deal with the wrongful charge to start with. If reimbursements came out of the ticket writer's paycheck, it would put a stop to nonsense like this.
