Track Night Atlanta...
I want experience to be able to do more competitive automotive things.
This seems like a good start.
Anyone ever been? Recomendations, things to watch out for, what not to do, etc?
Wishing I would have spent the extra $2k and got the performance pack for my 2015 GT.
I bought the GT for a DD and occasional trip to the strip. Now I have the turning bug but don't want to sink money on my DD.
I really wanted a 1LE Camaro, but couldn't find one for a few months, so I got a base model GT to just putz around in. Kind of regretting that now. May be looking at a used 1LE camaro, 2016 Camaro, or 2016 GT with PP depending on deals next year.

AMP has some brutal elevation changes. Don't expect too much out of the GT. if its an auto be prepared for it to smoke the trans. A buddy of mine took his moms 2010 track pack gt to road atlanta and 12 minutes in it destroyed the trans.
AMP is a fun track, if you dont like the road course the gokarts are 100% terrifying when sliding thru turn 1 at 60mph
Chin Motorsports, Porsche Club of America, JustTrackIt and JZilla all do full track days with a LOT of track time for not a whole lot more. I know a 2 day Roebling road event keeps getting offered by PCA 225 and you end up with something like 2hrs of on track time per day, a tshirt and they feed you pizza.

Thanks, Kyle.
I have the MT82 everyone either loves or hates, it seems.
I agree, my base model isn't going to cut it at that track. The only thing it's got going for it is power and the IRS.
The event in Atlanta for novices, like me, seems to be paced, now that I look at it more. It's mostly to get the feel of the track. I may just borrow some good wheels/tires atleast and try it to see if it's something I want to buy a trackish style car for.

road atlanta isnt a very newbie friendly track from what i've been told. being paced its probably not an issue tho. The issue is usually at turns 2, 5 and 12. You need to see if ford offers something along the lines of the boss scoop for the new cars. those transmissions get hot quickly.
leave you street tires on the car. you'll be much better off and your instructor will appreciate it. learn the car and track with the junky wheels/tire setup on it and you'll be that much faster once you have something sticky on the car.
This is my buddy from Atlanta that runs a 1:45 run in a bolt-on BRZ on e85 at road atlanta with 245/40R17 Bridgestone Potenza RE-11's and a big brake kit battling with a boss 302... 205whp

the boss pulls away on the straights but notice the brz reels him right back in under braking and thru the corner.
also, be prepared to be outran by MUCH slower cars out there.
