Rear end build opinions...

Going with the turbo kit now the stock rear end parts just aren't going to cut it with the 5 speed, slicks and trying to leave hard...so.. looking at a 31 Trac lock and some axles...BUT cant decide if I need C -clip axles...c-clip eliminators.. if I want to use 9 inch ends...Also. the car has 94+ ABS axles now I want to go to a Fox length axle and use the North Brackets to move the rear disc in.. Are there any certain axle considerations I have missed by wanting to move them in..

Thoughts / opinions.. This should be a mid 10 sec street car when done, I just want to do the rear end right the first time.

Even with a trac loc you will still snap the spider gears with a manual car , been there done that ! You could go with a locker but you still have a chance of failure with those . If you plan on making some power and racing the car with some hard launches get a spool and call it a day !

+1 on both. The 8.8 will be fine at that level with the mods above. We have both in the chevelle and drive it on the street a lot with no problems. We also have 33 spline strange axles.

I've done a lot of research..I just wanted to hear what some of you guys are running to.. I think after the research Ive done...reading posts from what guys are building themselves...Im going to stick with the 8.8 ends, c-clip eliminators, North Race Car brackets to move my rear disc's in where they need to be.

Right now I am using SN+ axles that are longer for the ABS ring so I want to get rid of those.

I think the 33 Spline Fox axles, 33 spline full spool, C-clip elim's, weld the axle tubes, Maybe install tube braces, New rear cover I'll be set.

If you run a 15 x 8" x 5.5 Backspacing is what I ran on my Fox! 26" x 10.5 Tires will fit well also.

North brackets allow you to run fox length axles, with or without c clip eliminators (Just depends on where you place the bracket) and allows you to run late model rear disc brakes. You can get Fox length 5 lug axles and use these brackets to use the late model rear discs. My car already has the disc but Im currently running SN+ axles that are longer for the ABS ring. I want to get rid of that but keep the rear disc so I gotta get the brackets. I have also just learned that these brackets will work with a 9 inch and allow me to run my brakes.. SO I think I may go ahead and go to a 9 inch for a Fox car and never have to worry about the rear end.

Ah, I understand now. That will not help my situation. I have 13" brakes on the rears and they interfere with 15" rims. I will probably have to down grade them to get 15" rims to work.

13 on the rear? I believe the smallest thing that will fit are 17's.. I wouldnt take the big brakes off myself.

If its mainly a race car... I would be trying to lighten it up as much as possible. Strange/ Aerospace brakes, gun drilled axles.. the works..

it can get expensive. wait til you start looking at the options on center sections.

Oh I know.. I have looked.. Nodular iron, daytona support... i could have 2 grand in the carrier if I'm not careful.. I have a friend back home who said he has a housing for a fox and some 31 spline axles. The 31 spline would be enough for a while. I wouldn't need the 33 until I start making big power.
