i can tell you from personal experience that Chris Tuten is very good. Downside is that he is in Columbia.

Obviously there is LS1 Powertuning- i have never had any personal experiences with them, but the fact that they are local would be nice if you had an issue. I am sure someone else can chime in for them.

I don't know about the local guy, but Chris Tuten is very good at what he does period. It's worth the drive to Columbia.

Do you not want Lorenz to tune your car ? I mean you have someone local that knows their shit about LS engines and how to make them run good and your still asking about people out of town . Makes no sense to me unless you have something against Lorenz .

Hes probably just looking at his option right now which is a smart thing to do. I know I wish I would have when I first started getting tuned. I would have saved a shit ton of time and money had i know then what I know now.:cheers

No, I think what Jeff is saying is that there is someone WELL QUALIFIED and experienced to do the job local and from what I hear very reasonable on pricing. So why not stick to someone local who knows what they are doing. From what I have seen personally, is that Ls1powertuning has some nice vehicles and good customer service. Hell, I can see going elsewhere if someone has a personal problem with them or their work sucks

Ok it's good to look around . He's been recomended more than once to you on different occasions , why not call and talk to him . And my angle is screw out of town tuners if you can avoid it !! Always waiting on a new tune or traveling just to tune your car gets aggrivating . And as for stock , nope I dont have any .

Just found this thread. Good gouge. I'll call or stop by early next week. I agree with Jeff, got a really weak tune from a company in the Greenville area, no service, no details. Need a local guy to unf*** it.

Thanks!

I spoke to Rick today and occurs to me I should qualify my comments. My concern was that I had no details on what the tune consisted of, so in effect, didn't know my baseline tuning changes. The tune worked fine for the hardware. We ran into an issue where the tune wouldn't load, worked thru that, but took awhile and pushed up against a deadline. Rick asserted the best process was to tune on the dyno, but that wasn't an option, so you get what you get with a mail order tune. Rick's sending a new tune, updated for the new hardware with recommendations to overcome the false knock then I'll go over to Lorenz' shop to dyno and datalog.

I appreciate the information and look forward to stopping by LS1 T this week and checking it out.

Chris
