Just ordered gears for the Turtlestang. May head out to the track on Sunday, so I can see what kind of difference 4.10a will make in my E.T.

I thought this was going to be a road course car?

I was thinking it was a big gear too. What do they usually run?

4.10s are fun. Not so fuel efficient, but fun. Honestly though, didnt help me really at all. What did the car run stock?

That is still the plan. 4.10s will actually make that a bit easier and more usable. Better to not have to use first gear for the slower corners. After all, the GT1 car I used to crew on/occasionally drive used 4.56 gears at a couple of the tracks we ran at. With the exception of Road America, they seemed to be ideal. There, we ran something in the 3.90's, I think. That car was set up with a Super T10, Winters QuickChange, and the world's baddest ass 500 hp n/a V6. (Former ASA stock car, converted for road course duty.)

What did the car run stock?

I haven't found out, yet. Seriously thinking about riding out to Bowman, tomorrow, to find out. All I know, is that it will be slow as dog balls-until I get used to launching a 5-speed on the track, again.

Well, Dennis got the 4.10's in yesterday. After some cussing the Speed-cal, and some help from another guy in the shop, I got her on the road. All I can say is HOLY HELL THAT WAS A CHANGE! Very glad I went that route. RPMs aren't all that bad either. ime to get to the track again to see how much the e.t. dropped.

Little to no room for the speedcal huh shaun? lol scotch locks become your friend FAST on that one.

Glad they are in.

Fuck a scotch lock. The thing wouldn't work and after checking EVERYTHING, found out that the scotch lock wasn't transferring power worth a damn. It is now soldered.

I still think you should find someone w/ an IRS set-up cornering is fun tooooo

Ummm, no. I prefer the way a live axle works around corners vs. Ford's IRS. At least I know how a stick axle will behave, if I hit a bump mid-corner.

I knew you would like the 4.10's :) But be careful or say bye bye to 28 spline axles. The new edge rears are wider and flex a lot more than the fox ones.

I second the live axle > ford irs...i had an irs in my '01 saleen w/ a few bushing upgrades, and I have a MM PHB and lca's in the cobra....cobra handles much better, the ass end is far more predictable, but its not nearly as comfortable. I'd like to see what an IRS would do if you had the whole $500 Maximum Motorsport setup on it though.

And shaun..congrats on gears...they are mucho fun :)
