I saw a white GTR yesterday on 526. Unfortunatly he was heading toward west ashtray and I was heading towards charleston. It looked really nice but I doubt even if I could afford one I would ever own one. I would have liked to try racing him if he was heading the same direction as me just to see how bad he would beat me.

Sorry no pics.

I saw a red one running around James Island a few weeks ago. I think they are running in the 60-70k range. I've heard they are being marked up to almost 100k at places.

Guy around here ordered one from overseas and is sellin it for around 80k. But for that price, you could get a Corvette Z06 that would easily outrun a GTR, not to mention a Z06 looks better

Meh.

Car & Driver campaigned one in the One Lap of America. I saw it up at Carolina Motorsports Complex. It was very uninspiring both visually and aurally.

Frankly, it reminded me of these guys from the Cannonball Run movie:

Moreover, the trannies have been giving people fits. It seems Nissan voids the warranty if the VDC is turned off and the launch control is used. A 20K repair bill on a new car is a hard pill to swallow.

Oh, and I read a brake job is around 6K.

No thanks.

From what I have read is the transmission is built specifically for the motor in that car. Can't just go to a junkyard in the future and pull and transmission and it will work supposedly.

85,000 for 485hp and nitrogen tires

you can buy a brand new mustang, challenger or camaro, twin turbo it and still have money for strippers. i dont get it at all

While I don't agree with the price tag (the mark up that dealers are putting on it), it is an amazing machine. All wheel drive, boosted, potent V6, and Nissan's Skyline heritage. I think the major reason for the outrageous price tag is that it's the first year the GT-R has been brought to US shores. I think Nissan definitely has to work on the new transmission they have in there... If you were to look at the older GT-R's (R32, R33, R34) then you would see that the Getrag tranny that were in those models were bullet proof. Not to mention that the older GT-R's were also capable of making 1000hp on a stock bottom end.

Long post, but all in all, it's a great machine in the right hands.

I respect it because of its capabilitys but I find it highly over rated for the mere fact the price and how expensive it is on every corner of the car. It's impressive however all of the crap that goes on with it is pretty much bull shit. Atleast you can roll into ford pushing out 700hp and they still uphold some kind of warranty LOL.

With what?

Aftermarket blower could/would void warranty

Turbocharger could/would void warranty

Tuner/chip could/would void warranty

Full exhaust could/would void warranty

Gears could/would void warranty

Suspension changes could/would void warranty

Cam(s) could/would void warranty

Nitrous will void warranty

Alot of dealerships not just ford are voiding warranties when you modify them, especially if that part could have caused the problem.

I just remember years ago when my wife had her cavalier they wanted to void the warranty because she had an aftermarket cd player in the car.

And I saw the rep void a car's warranty because he had aftermarket wheels on it.

And another time I saw him void a guys warranty because he had a small suspension lift and the problem the truck was in there for was the a/c compressor went out. his reasoning was because the suspension lift put extra strain on the motor and the a/c compressor causing it to burn up. Horseshit but it happens.

GTRs are limited to 110MPH in japan, and 155 here in the US on public roads. Ghey when you have a car that could do 180.

Im sure here at least thats easily tuneable.

True about the speed, but on Top Gear they noted that the GPS knows when you are on a race track. It then shuts the speed limiter off. That may not work everywhere, but still is a cool piece of kit.

Tuneable, yes, but it will void your warranty, like just about anything these days.

That works for the non-us versions with the 110 MPH limiter, in the US I think its just a true speed limiter without the GPS on/off racetrack feature which is pretty cool.
