She has been asking me to teach her how to shoot a gun for a while now and i decided today was the day........
I was really impressed with how well she did for her first time ever shooting a gun! There was really no teaching involved- i cut her loose and she did it all on her own.
The head shots were even intentional!

Now all you have to do is write on it "That's my girl!" and stick it to your front door. You shouldn't have any problems with burglars when they see that!

Very nice. So when are you getting her own gun now?

When I went to ATP i saw the pink guns and thought of my wife as well. BUT, in the back of my mind I don't think my wife owning a gun would be a good idea. Especially when I piss her off. LOL

I sucked this week! 2 technical "misses". Those dinged my score by minus 20 points. Oh, well.....It is still much more fun to shoot against the clock on the run with mag changes included vs. just renting a lane and leisurely shooting 50+ rounds at one target.

The combat shoots at ATP are held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month starting at 5:45PM. If there is a 5th Wednesday in a month, they shoot then, too. Anyone that can abide by firearm safety is welcome. You can even watch for free if you want to see what actually goes on at one of these shoots.

The fee to participate is just $7 plus your ammo. One shooter at a time shoots in front of the line on the move from target to target. Sometimes you will be shooting from behind cover, sometimes not. The course they set up is a little different at each shoot. The course usually takes you about 30 rounds to complete, and all targets are to be double tapped. Just make sure you have a holster for your gun, along with hearing and eye protection.

Trader World gun range on Cross County road also has "Action Shoots" on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month starting at 7:00PM. It is pretty much the same format as the one at ATP except the scoring is a little different. I have heard that they do more shooting at this one than the ATP shoot. The fee for this one is also $7. Due to the increased number of participants they have been getting lately, they are considering moving the shoot days from the Wednesdays to the 2nd and 4th Sundays @ 2:00PM sometime in May.

The thing I like about these shoots is that you get accustomed to handling your handgun while on the run...a lot like you may have to do one day in a real situation. Look at it this way, what did you buy your handgun for in the first place?
