I have a 92 Tbird with an AOD in it. When it is cold, it seems to have a problem when I come to a stop going from 2nd to 1st. It will try to stall the motor and then shift. Also, it seems to hesitate when going to OD at around 45 or 50. The car has around 120k on it but it looked like the tranny was rebuilt when I put the motor in. (not sure though) Any ideas? I checked the fluid and it looks ok.

Sounds like a converter issue to me.

Perm, I'll check with the guys at work; but I have a question-What do you mean by hesitating into O/D? Does the shift slip? Does it feel like you are getting jerked like when towing a trailer?

It has always felt firm when shifting. Not clunky or harsh but just firm. When it goes into overdrive, if I am going 45 or 50, it will sit there for a moment and then shift. It used to go right away when I reached those speeds. It always downshifts when you give it gas so for the most part it seems to work as it should.

That's exactly how my TCI converter acted before it went out.

Sounds like something I would have to feel/experience for myself to give a professional opinion. I live just up from Goose Creek off of 176. No charge for an honest opinion. Feel free to PM me.
