I have a stock 700r4 behind my 350 and was wondering if there is anything to do as far as upgrades other than corvette servos that can help strengthen it up to hold some abuse.

And is there a way to change the shift points from 4500 rpms to 6000 rpms at WOT?

A Corvette servo is a good starting point. Make sure you throw away the factory teflon sealing rings and go with the aftermarket "D"-rings. You can do this with the trans still in the vehicle if your exhaust isn't in the way.
You can also add a Transgo shift kit by dropping the valve body. The kit has a larger main regulator booster valve that raises line pressure across the board. You can also get aftermarket governor springs to change your WOT shift points. Pete at PT's Trans Parts can hook you up with a kit of numerous governor springs in order for you to find your desired WOT shift points. The governor valve can be removed with the trans in the vehicle, too.

As far as upgrades when the trans is apart, upgrade any older 7 vane pumps to 10 vane units. This really smooths out the pump pressure pulsations that are known to break vane rings. Also use upgraded vane rings. Also use the Sonnax pump priming spring to keep the pump slide from trying to center itself at high rpm, thereby causing low pump volume. Upgrade the 3/4 clutch to a 7 plate stack and get a forward planet ring gear from a later model that has the splines to span the 7 3/4 clutch disks. Add a beast sun shell and wide rear sun gear bushing. Upgrade the forward sprag to the large peanut double cage style. Carbonite 2-4 band, too.

If you plan on exceeding 400HP, a hardened input shaft is highly recommended. With all the above listed parts, you can safely feed 600HP through a 700R4 or a 4L60E. As Hal said, overdrive is rather nice to have when running 4.10 gears or more. That way you can actually DRIVE your STREET car to the track and beat up on a trailered in "street" car and drive back home afterwards. There's nothing like adding insult to injury when you spank a trailer queen car with your true street ride.
