No list of who will be closed-at this time. The VP of General Motors says it will not be released; but I am sure someone will leak the info. I will keep everyone posted.

I just hope and pray that Ford can survive this mess. The statement we got today is that Ford has no plans on closing any stores and that they can last until 2011, even in this down market. Time will tell.

Matt, where did you get your info. We have been keeping tabs on this stuff for the last month, and have seen nothing regarding GM store specifics

Marathon on Rivers needs to close. They have really went down hill in the last year.

Yeah. They will sell trucks, at great prices, to just about anybody.

I'm seeing a trend in the closings. I've noticed with both Chrysler and GM that the stores closing are one store from many of the same name. example... Hoover has 3 locations, 2 are closing, Marathon has 2 location and 1 is closing. This is just forcing them to consolidate their operations.

I have never heard or personally seen any great deals from any dealership around here. Guess its what you consider a good deal. The last 5 or 6 vehciles I have bought from dealers I bought in Texas, flew down and drove back way cheaper than buying it here.
When I bought my Z06, after flying to TX and driving back it was still $8k cheaper than any place here would do, my dually was $10k cheaper. It does help Im from TX so I go home and visit when I fly down but either way I will fly there over and over for $8-10k off.

I only buy parts from Marathon, would never buy a car there, its bad when there employee's dont even buy from them and they go to hendricks.

There parts department is horrible. I have using them for 6 years and buy more and more stuff from them each year and my discount this year is lower than it has ever been since they fired everyone and started over. Hell I can order most of parts from my wharehouse and pay 2 day shipping and still beat Marathon.

Like it or not, it is good business sense. How many GM brand retailers in the area? A day late, but they are trying to be like Toyota as far a locations go. GM and Toyota sell the same number of units (combined). Toyota has 1/4 to 1/3 of the retailers as GM. Who has the higher profit margin?
