DO NOT ship UPS. Try to find a truck freight company i.e. Estes, Yellow Freight, Wilson trucking etc etc to ship. It will be cheaper that way.

I would get a pallent and put some wood in the front and back and maybe some on the sides where the motor mounts would be to hold it still. Get some small cable and cable clamps and run it to some bolts on the sides and/or over the motor to lock it down.

I forgot to mention it's only a block...and I got a quote online from UPS truck freight and it was only $85 to his zip and to a commercial address...you think that's too high?

Estes is $145
Yellow Freight is $183

UPS will jack the price up higher when you get there. Been there done that with them. Never got a motor after 2 weeks and ups had no idea of it in there computer. Shipper had to go to the store and actually get the motor and reship it.

Mine was just a shortblock nothing else. I am not the first one to have that problem through ups.

DO NOT SHIP Freight THROUGH UPS!!!!!

Chuck as Hal stated us a trucking company to ship it. I got my complete motor and tranny shipped from PA and it was only $250. Shipping for just a block through UPS when all was said and done was going to be over $500 from CT. Yellow freight was much cheaper.

When you ship. package it as Hal stated but also see if you can wrap the block in bubble wrap or plastic to protect it from item dropping in the cylinders. then secure real good with cable to pallet. The pallet will be a small engine cradle when done.

we just had two motors shipped to us and had trouble with UPS because they had no idea how to ship it. they never informed the shipper it was sitting in the warehouse with a big question mark on it. it sat there for over two weeks. Once it hit yellow freight we had it in 3 days, the way it should be.

Actually take it to UPS and see what it will be.

My motor shipped truck frieght was $280. UPS was $600+ for the same thing. Nothing was different. Plus, have the buyer pay for shipping anyways. But if you do not want a bad seller mark, stay away from ups lol

eh, cant help you there man. Were mainly southeast. If I were you, id try Old Dominion. They are nation wide, and do very good freight handling. Yellow (aka YRC) are trash. Just my .02.

Then again I dont know if its possible to hurt a block, but they may find a way...idk.

Calling is good for a rough quote. But I would take it to them as you have it packaged and get them to weight it etc for an accurate quote.

if its just a block, just bring it to wherever you are using and they can put it on a pallet. Weve shipped thousands of blocks/complete engines/trannys like that. Just as long as its banded, or shrink wrapped good itll be fine.
