View Full Version : Follow up on my heath today.

Some of you know about the heath issues Ive been having and some of you dont.

For the past 2-3 years I have been having abdominal pain in my right upper quadrant. In April of 08 I went to the doctor and got some tests done (blood work, X-ray and ultrasound) and they didnt find anything abnormal. Then they suggested I go in for a Colonoscopy. When they mentioned that I felt the pain wasnt severe enough to justify the procedure so I forgot about my issue for a year exactly to the date.

Then in April of 09 my abdominal pain started becoming more intense. At first it felt like I had a grape in my abdomen that shouldnt be there. Now today it feals as though I have a fully inflated football in my abdomen. I went through a vast battery of test which included Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, two ultrasounds, blood work 3 times, Small Bowl Fallow Through scan, a CAT scan and another scan which Im not to sure of what it was but it involved getting injected with radio active material.

After all the test and thousands of dollars worth of bills Ive gotten the CAT scan I had this past Tuesday finally revealed an issue. I have an oversized or growth on my Adrenal gland. Im not exactly sure what this means yet but I will find out soon. In the next week or two I will have an consultation appointment with an internal surgeon. We will then discuss my current options and make a decision on what to do. I can only assume that because I was referred to a surgeon that I will face surgery in my near future. It will be my first surgery in 27 years. My only hopes are that the growth or possible tumor is benign of cancer and I can have a full recovery.

Im not posting this to get any sympathy or pull at your heart string also the last thing I want is any kind of donation. I know if I needed and asked you guys would help me. This post is just to kind of blog about whats goining on in my life right now and keep you guys and my self in the future aware of whats going on with me and the timeline of events. I have a horrible memory.

Last but not leaste :yourock:
So all I ask of yall is wish me luck and Ill be back stronger than ever.

FYI this may be found on other boards also to keep others informed.

If your interested more info on Adrenal glands and what they do it can be found here http://www.endocrineweb.com/adrenal.html

So, they are not sure if it is an oversized Adrenal Gland or a growth after all those tests?

did they do a pet scan yet. this will show it you have it anywhere else. if it is a single growth then the chances of it being cancer are lower. srry to hear of this. keep us informed. hope everything goes well.

Hey Chris,
We have never met, but I hope you get that taken care of and come out 150% better. It sucks not knowing whats going on after doing all those tests like that, but at least know you know.

Finally got a notable update with whats been going on.

After going to an appointment to follow up on the growth on my adrenal gland it was determined that it wasn't causing any issues at all. The doctor compared the growth as being no worse than a regular mole on your back and followed on to say they are fairly common. It was also determent through several test that there wasn't any cancer to be associated with the growth.

While none of the test have been 100% conclusive there have been several test along with my symptoms that point at the same thing and the results are that they are going to remove my gall bladder. As of now my appointment is next Thursday in the AM.

Im so happy to have something finally be done to attempt to solve the issues and pain Ive been having. What Im mostly glad about is its a quick and fairly painless procedure with little down time (generally less than two days).

by the time you get to were you can think somewhat straight you'll be OK with the pain. Not saying it wont be there. It just wont be that bad. You know how it is when you hurt your self and you can still feel it the next day. Kinda like that.

So how was the pain thing? Not to bad was it? The biggest thing I hate about the hospital is the not knowing. Dont know when its going to get started. They come and give you a shot. Next thing you know your waking up all crapy feeling. Cant wait to get out of there and get home. To many people asking questions and you just want left alone. Then finally you get to leave. Sound about right?

Sounds about perfect except I have to add when you get home you cant really do anything you want to do or normally do.
