what happened to the motor?

had a bearing issue, which is reason on not selling the crank. Nothing is hurt but the crank. I wouldnt be selling it if there was an issue.

What compression ratio would the rods / pistons make with stock 2v heads?

was the crank new? most aftermarket and maybe some OEM cranks have a radius in the journal and require a special bearing or champhering<sp?

No the crank was not new but it didnt matter because they were the wrong bearings.

We knew it when we built it, but the place he baught them from insisted that they were correct.

+1 or whoop ass. the trust bearing in the rear had the trust part on only the cap side of the bearing and not the block side. WTF

Maybe Brandon can tell you I think it was Summit or Jegs. When we put them in I showed Brandon that they were different and told him I was worried about end play, they were a three piece set instead of a 4 piece set like what was originally in his motor and what are in my motor.

I was standing there when he called them and their reply was " Thats the only bearing set for a 4.6"

If it were a 4 piece set it would have.

was it the right bearing just missing the thrust parts? that is a really strange setup. ive never seen a thrust bearing like that before. what holds them in place?

The cap keeps them from rolling thats what the "L" shape is for, no it was entirely the wrong bearing setup it only came with 1 of those with the "L" shape on it the rest were cup style.

9.2:1 with stock heads they are .020 over pistons also

And its no ones fault but mine I guess, which doesnt matter now. This is a for sale thread, not a whyd your motor fuck up thread. The other bearings (the ones I wanted to order initially) were on a 3 month back order, so I ordered the next best thing. It was Summit Racing's tech line. Not blaming them, just my lack of patience.

Anyway, anyone gonna buy this stuff?

Not trying to throw salt in the wound Brandon, you are my friend and have been for a long time. Its not like I try to sell motors or build them for a fee so I could care less.
I'm only trying to inform those that seem to want to blame it on me. "We" noticed the problem durring assembly but chose to proceed forward anyway, I guess I could have put all of my tools up and said "hell no were not going any further" but I knew it was your only means of transportation at the time and I knew how bad you wanted it finished.

Hell, I have a 500$ doctor bill to add to the cost, sooo it actually cost me to build the motor too. I just hate that it turned out like this.

Off topic a little more. :poke: Were you cruising around subway in gc yesterday around 1 or 2? So many black L's it is hard to tell.:hide: Was sounding mean as hell.

Brandon, you should just put a supercharged 3.8 in there. I know where you could get one.:hysterical:

I think my motor without oil pressure and a messed up crank would still deliver a better time slip....:Finger2:

Sorry to hear that man, I know how it is though. My first motor was junked in 3 months due to the double roller hitting the timing cover. If I would have taken more time to clearance it then I wouldn't have built another motor.

I will spread the word to any mustang guys I know.
