i have a 4.6 that i am trying to get the dowel pins out of. the dowels (2) are the ones that the timing chain tensioners go on under the water pump. i need to get them out to put in my 4.6 that i am rebuilding and the other will be scrap. i tried pliers, vice grips, and a pipe wrench but they are just to slippery to get a bite on. i know it can be done because the one i bought doesn't have them. they are screw in type. any advice would be great. if anyone knows the part number maybe i'll just go to ford and get more. thanks

Maybe try heating up the area around the pins or make the pins cold with NOS?

New pins are CHEAP !

i'm not sure the problem is that it is stuck, more of the problem is i can't find anything that will grip on the smooth surface of the dowels. i'm gonna go to work tommorow and see what tool i can dig up. i will definetly try the fire approach but i don't have nos.
