i was thinking of installing a k member in my 99 mustang gt and had some questions. i would like to use spring perches to keep down on the price. it is going to be a street car not a track car if that is important. any name brands or suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

i got rid of the mustang LONG TIME ago.

I never installed it on my car. BUT, will tell you this. When I changed a stocker out for another stocker (was bent) it took a good 8 hours for the first time. Your front suspension will have to be removed or moved out of the way, p/s will need to be disconnected , motor will need to be supported. Not really hard. Just alot of little things to do.

The qa1 compared to the stocker was about 23lbs lighter I believe.

bout an hour and it will be in. its not that expensive to do the coil over setup with the stock struts. Granitteli makes one thats reasonable

I put an AJE (Anthony Jones Engineering ) one in my 2003 Mach 1. Talk about room, in an sn95 chassis, you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner. I also had the Granatelli cheater coil over conversion kit. The kit allows you to install a coil over spring on the stock strut, doing away with the spring in the "A" arm. The biggest thing I noticed on the Mach 1 was room, the hell with weight, that is just an added bonus. I could take the front tire off, and see all the header bolts where they bolted to the heads, starter was easier to get to with the infamous 3rd starter bolt everyone leaves out, you could see and get to everything. Motor is already out, like Bob said about an hour and its done. Warning, If you haven't owned your car since new, get a carfax on it. You may not want to do this job if the car has been crashed in the front, because when you unbolt the stock "K" member you may never get it lined back up again...:bigthumb:

i have been looking around and i am being told that i would have to buy tubular a arms to make it work. does anyone know if this is true? i have a 99 gt mustang. if that is the case it is better to buy a whole kit instead of a piece here or there. if someone could clear this up for me i would appreciate it.

what brand are you looking at?

qa1 you can use all the stock parts . Just have to shave some off the stockers and that is it.

This is how to do just the k member in a mustang

Why don't you tell us why you want to do it in the first place, and we can tell you if it is worth it for YOU.

i just would like some clearance around my headers oil pan etc.. don't really care about the weight savings, all though it would be a plus. springs work fine for me also. that is really the only reason i was thinking of doing it.

Well, if you are looking for some more room, then it is definately the way to go.
