seems like an expensive combo for 420 rwhp. Wonder why the switch from the lt1.

Who knows, maybe the motor was bad and he wanted something easier to work on and make power and more reliable too.

Anyway, I posted this up to show Tyler the paint job. imo, this is the best looking lt formula I have ever seen.

your right. But if it already had an lt1 than why waste all that money on getting an ls1 and aftermarket parts etc to make it work for just 420 rwhp. IT can be done for an lt1 too.

420 rwhp in an lt1 and ls1 doesn't make the lt1 automatically slow.

hell ls1's are slow. get with the program and get ls6

With those mods, I think that number is conservative. He could have been at a dyno like showzone. Too bad they don't have track times.

I found this article and it makes me wonder why someone would go through all the trouble of putting an lt1 in a blazer when you could make the power with a 4.3?

because to do that IS more EXPENSIVE than just getting a v8 and start from there!

Have looked into doing that myself.

THat car does look good, and I respect the amount of work and time into it. I was just asking a question. If the answer was spelled out from the article like *owner found a killer deal on ls1 * than I would understand

Looks a little "Starsky and Hutch" to me.

The guy must not have been worried about money, because he bought the crate motor and new tranny from gm. Then you add the afr heads, etc...

It could have been done a lot cheaper for sure and probably better (forged motor)

It does look like starsky and hutch, I like it.

a ls1 with afr heads is worth more than 420rwhp. trust me. mine did 428rwhp on a mustang dyno with a ls6 intake.

I dont know why people say this. I had a stock shortblock/cubic inch LT1 with stock ported heads/intake and a 150 shot that would knock down 10 second passes all day long (11.60's on motor) and the car weighed 3,700 pounds to boot.

Wasnt to bad for stock rotating assembly and a shitty cam that wasnt even meant for nitrous. It only picked up between .7-.85 on a 150 and/or 200 shot that i stuffed down its throat in 1 stage right off the drop of the clutch at 6k rpm! With a nitrous cam and nitrous tune the car had a 10.50 easily!

A lot of people dog LT1 cars but that little tiny stock motor hurt many a feelings of LT 4, and LS1 & 6 cars stroked, gassed or with a huffer on it! I had more money in suspension/drivetrain than i did in the motor. That was the ticket to the time slips
